- A Slight Correction -

As you may be aware, since I am almost finished with Silent Hill f, I decided to start Resident Evil Remastered to eventually fill it's content slot. However, in my desire to play a childhood favourite of mine, & a game that really pioneered the whole Survival Horror genre, I overlooked Resident Evil 0, which chronologically speaking, takes place exactly 2 & 1 days before RE:1.

This just means that I will play 0 first, then 1 etc all in canonical order until Resident Evil Village (DLC) Shadows of Rose which is a time jump & takes place after Requiem. Lets roll! 😎

- My Thoughts So Far on Silent Hill f -

Hello my Ghosts & Gouls! As the Spooky season is now in full swing, its only natural that this channel will gravitate towards what its more or less known for, Survival Horror. This means October's creature feature is Silent Hill f.
That being said, as a responsible content creator, and someone who enjoys explaining why I may choose a particular game & sharing my thoughts about it.. I feel it is diligent and proper to provide you with some insight.

Silent Hill f so far, has been an absolute blast to play! Anybody who knows me, generally knows how highly in regard I revere Silent Hill 3, 2, and the entirety of the Resident Evil franchise. Silent Hill f continues to grow on me and is truly a contender for top honors from me.
With that, it leads me to this write up. So far, having played this game for around 6 hours and thoroughly enjoying exploring its world from top to bottom, it presents a certain dread and uncomfortable feeling. Every moment having played this game, I have felt uneasy and since this has been a nearly blind playthrough on hard, its been a foreboding & almost daunting challenge at every turn.

While I do know that Silent Hill Townfall is the newest entry in the series (I will also get around to playing that probably right after this) Silent Hill f has the full DNA of all of the other Silent Hill games but feels totally fresh and uniquely its own. The setting is of a Rural Japanese Village (Ebisugoka) in the 1960's and the protagonist is a captivating & determined female High School student, known as Hinako Shimizu. The story alternates between the rather dark and gloomy real world, and a strange alternate dimension sealed away from reality where Hinako's manifested nightmarish Hell becomes something truly unsettling and wickedly disturbing... you must know where I am going with this.

This game is NOT fair the faint of heart, squeamish, or easily upset over topics or ideas which I cannot fully put into words here. While I havent experienced alot of what I will now write about, what I have experienced so far is terrifying stuff! I know just enough about the types of things coming & to prepare for, that I can safely say that this game is ONLY for a mature audience please. While I do appreciate creative freedom (and the Silent Hill developers/Team Silent are all to good at pioneering & exploring) the envelope has really been pushed beyond what even I was expecting. There are some scenes in this game that make the all too infamous Heavy Rain pinky (severing) scene look pale in comparison. Be forwarned that this game deals with extreme subject-matters than can be truly upsetting for some. That is why I must emphasize that if you do watch me play through this on a livestream, you should be a resposible adult, and know that it will probably be unlike anything you were prepared for (if you haven't played this game before).

Other than that, this game does feel quite alot like Dark Souls, however the combat is a zero-reward risky endeavor where you are more often than not, going to take damage. Also, you will be juggling between melee-only combat, a lock-on focus system, multiple onscreen enemies in groups, a sanity meter, heath bar & on-the-go consumables. Add in a stamina meter that has Hinako huffing and puffing like an asthmatic 80 year old in a hazy smoke laden hookah-bar/lounge, and you have a recipe for some extremely challenging & frustrating combat.

So far so good! 🌙😈

- A Major Milestone Announcement & Thanks -

As you may already be aware from the post below this one, I have been accepted into the YouTube Partner Program. This is quite a significant feat for me considering that when I began this humble little gaming channel in January 2025, I had no such expectations I would ever grow to be more than someone who may have a handful of people at any given time, who may watch my videos, let alone subscribe.

It is because of my passion & love for video gaming, that was and always be the founding principle of this channel. I truly enjoy sharing my gaming experience with others, and getting an opportunity to discuss all things video game related. I have had such a wonderful time engaging with so many great & wonderful like minded people and creators. I am also pleased I have had an opportunity to maybe even show you some games that either dont get enough exposure or that you mayhave never even seen or heard of before.

With all of this being said, I will take some time out to make a very lengthy, & well thought out post to reflect upon & thank as many of you all personally as I can. Because without you all, & your continued support, Darkness Gaming would never have achieved this level of success, refinement, or what it has become today from its earliest beginning as a channel known as Northern Maple Gaming. Thank you all so very, very much!
