On this channel we explain legal topics and do analyses of current trials. My goal is to explain complex legal topics in ways that don't require you to have a Latin-to-English dictionary. Why?
The law can be an astoundingly complex thing. For any question there are multiple possible answers. My job is to explain things in plain language.
Importantly, this channel DOES NOT provide legal advice. It is a general description of the law based on 28 years of legal practice, hundreds of case, and lots of experiences. As a lawyer I have written a legal column for more than 25 years and am published in a wide variety of publications. I have several books published both in hardback and in Kindle format.

Just a quick update for everyone who might have missed earlier updates. I will not have current content on the channel from 8/31 through 9/17. I have set two series to run on the channel during that time. The first Series is "What the Great Trial Lawyers Taught Me" and it focuses on names you may know, like Clarence Darrow, Alan Jackson, and Gerry Spence. This is focused on the art of being a trial lawyer and it may well help you understand what it is that lawyers do when they bring and defend cases. It should be especially helpful to new lawyers and to law students as they prepare for their journey ahead.
The second, much shorter series, is called Mistakes Were Made. Those videos feature a lawyer who screwed up and either got suspended or disabarred. It looks at what they did, or did not do, and how it affected their clients and their career. I have included in each of these videos a segment about how consumers can protect themselves from lawyers who may have undiscovered problems in their lives and practices (alcoholism, marriage troubles, bill-paying troubles, etc.). Ideally I wanted this to run along with the other seriess, but Lindsay Clancy sucked the life out of me and left me with no time to complete the series. I'd appreciate feedback as to whether they are useful and if they are I will continue the series on my return.
Thanks again to this wonderful community of truly caring people. When the Clancy verdict comes in, if there is a way to do it (perhaps a short, since I am not taking my computer on this trip) I will offer my thoughts, and I will do a postscript on the trial when I return.

I feel somewhat vindicated in my analysis in that Alan Jackson , someone I consider to be a great Trial, lawyer, agrees with me that they did not meet the burden in the prosecution case. He also thought that Reddington did a masterful job. It’s always nice when people like that agree with you.

Closing arguments today. As soon as they are finished, I will put out a video. I am hoping that the jury is wise enough to return an early verdict of not criminally responsible. That would be a marvelous rebuke to these prosecutors. But I’m also somewhat sure that they will take their time and give the verdict that the evidence requires.
Looking forward to tomorrow, if we get a verdict today or early tomorrow, I will do a post script video on the entire trial. However, if we do not have a verdict by Friday, I’m likely going to have to put that off until I get back from my vacation.
As I have mentioned to you all, I have material set to run for the entire time that I’m gone. I hope you find it useful. I will get back to trials, as soon as I return. Thank you all for letting me have this time.
