French President Emmanuel Macron says he and U.S. President Donald Trump have agreed to work together to ease tensions in energy markets and protect critical infrastructure in the Middle East.

In a post after their meeting in New York, Macron said the two leaders would also work to protect freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Macron said they would seek a moratorium on strikes against energy infrastructure and Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, while calling for serious negotiations on the conditions for peace between Russia and Ukraine.
