BUSINESS OWNERS, THIS IS YOUR REMINDER TO TRUST GOD

I NEEDED MONEY FOR MY BUSINESS. WHAT HAPPENED NEXT LEFT ME SPEECHLESS.

I was in a season where I needed money to expand my business.

I prayed. I asked God to make a way for me.
And continued with my daily business operations.
I also backed up my prayers with actions, I applied for some grants and for me Loan was not an option because I saw some close people who took loans and how it turned out for them.

Then one day, someone reached out to me through my YouTube channel.

A complete stranger.

The person wanted to invest in my business and in return I was to pay an interest on the total amount. Please note I have never met this person neither did I discuss with anyone prior to this time.

My first reaction?

Skepticism.

I thought, “Is this genuine? Why would someone who doesn't know me want to do this.

I didn't rush into it.

I did my due diligence. I checked the person's Instagram page and saw a family-oriented person who was married with children and also shared Christian values.

The money had a 20% interest rate, with repayment starting after five months.

Eventually, I decided to take the opportunity.

We signed an agreement.

Today, looking back, I see something I didn't see clearly at the beginning.

God was answering my prayer.

But He wasn't just providing money.

He was also teaching me discipline.

He was teaching me how to manage money responsibly.

He was teaching me to honour my commitments.

He was teaching me that sometimes, the answer to your prayer may come in a form you weren't expecting.

I completely paid back the money and the interest.

I was relieved.

I was grateful.

I thought that was the end of the story.

But then I received a message.

The person sent the entire interest back to me.

And the message was simply that God had instructed them to return it to me.

I honestly couldn't believe it.

I had prayed for provision.

God provided.

I prayed for expansion.

God made a way.

And somehow, in the process, He also taught me discipline.

This is why I tell business owners: trust God with your business.

Don't put your entire hope in rich friends and family.

People may love you deeply and still not have the capacity to help you.

People have limitations.

People can say no.

People can have their own financial responsibilities.

But God is not limited by any of that.

Your help can come from somewhere you never expected.

Your opportunity can come from someone who discovered you online.

Your breakthrough can come through a person you've never met before.

Your answer can come through a grant, an idea, a customer, a partnership or an opportunity you didn't even know existed.

God is not limited to the people you know.

And when He provides, don't just ask Him for the provision.

Ask Him for the wisdom to manage it.

Ask Him for the discipline to steward it.

Ask Him for the courage to do what is right.

One thing I must also say: I am not advocating loans for small and growing businesses.

Interest rates in Nigeria can be very high, and taking the wrong loan can put a young business under enormous pressure.

Personally, I prefer grants where they are available.

But my testimony is not really about a loan.

It is about God's provision.

It is about how He can answer a prayer through an unexpected person.

It is about how He can use an opportunity to teach you something you didn't even know you needed to learn.

And it is a reminder that you don't have to know HOW God will do it.

You just need to trust Him.

Keep building.

Keep praying.

Keep learning.

Keep doing your part.

And when God makes a way, have the wisdom to recognize it.

I prayed for money.
God sent a person.
I needed expansion.
God provided an opportunity.
I needed capital.
God taught me discipline.
And when I thought the story was over, He gave me a testimony.

Business owner, don't lose hope.

Your provision may come from a direction you never expected.

Trust God.

He is still your Source.

WHY HONEY IS ONE OF THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL FOOD BUSINESSES

If there is one food business that can make people argue for hours, it is honey.

And the funny thing is that many of the things people use to judge honey are not reliable tests.
At Veeclassic Foods Limited we have seen customers come with all manner of myths, fears, concerns and arguments to test or proof if the honey we sell is original

Let’s talk about some of them;

1. THE COLOUR OF HONEY

“Real honey must not be dark.”

Not true.

Honey can naturally range from very light to very dark depending on the flowers the bees collected nectar from, the geographical location and other factors.
So, light honey is not automatically fake, and dark honey is not automatically pure.

2. THICK HONEY = ORIGINAL HONEY?

Not necessarily.
Honey naturally varies in thickness. Moisture content, temperature and floral source can affect its consistency.
So you cannot look at a bottle and confidently say, “This one is original because it is thick.”

3. CRYSTALLIZED HONEY = FAKE?

Absolutely not.
Honey can naturally crystallize because of the sugars it contains, particularly glucose.
Different honeys crystallize at different rates. Some crystallize quickly, while others may remain liquid for a long time.
So crystallization is not proof that honey is fake.

4. THE WATER TEST
Put honey in water and watch whether it dissolves.
This is one of the most popular internet “tests.”
But it cannot reliably prove whether honey is pure or adulterated. Honey is naturally water-soluble, and how quickly it mixes can be affected by several factors.

5. THE FLAME TEST

“Real honey will burn, fake honey will not.”
Another popular claim.
But the result can be affected by moisture and the material being used for the test. It is not a reliable way to authenticate honey.

6. THE ANT TEST

“Ants don't go near original honey.”
This is another popular belief.
But ants responding to honey or not responding to it does not scientifically prove whether the honey is genuine.

7. THE BREAD TEST AND THUMB TEST

Whether honey spreads, absorbs into bread or sits on your thumb depends on things such as moisture and consistency.
They are not reliable authenticity tests.

SO HOW DO YOU REALLY KNOW?

This is where honey becomes even more interesting.
Proper honey quality and authenticity assessment involves laboratory analysis.

Tests can examine things such as moisture, sugar composition, sucrose levels, electrical conductivity and other quality parameters. More advanced methods can also be used to investigate adulteration and botanical or geographical origin.

And even laboratory authentication can be complex because honey is a natural product with significant variation.

THIS IS WHY HONEY IS SO CONTROVERSIAL.
One person says:

“Your honey is too light.”
Another says:
“Your honey is too thick.”
Someone else says:
“It crystallized, so it is fake.”
Another person says:
“Put it in water.”
And someone else says:
“Ants don't touch mine, so mine is original.”
😂
But honey doesn't work that simply.

The colour is not the test.
The thickness is not the test.
The ants are not the test.
The water test is not the test.
The flame test is not the test.
Crystallization is not proof of fake honey.

Honey is a natural food, and its physical characteristics can vary naturally.
So before declaring a honey “fake” based on a TikTok or WhatsApp test, understand the science first.

Simply buy from trusted beekeepers/ vendors and /or run laboratory analysis.

If you want to buy original honey send us a message on 07010699344

That is one of the biggest lessons we have learnt in the honey business.

What is the most surprising honey “test” you have ever seen someone use?

Are You Really Making Profit? The Food Costing Secret Every Food Business Owner Must Know

If you run a food business and you don't know your food cost percentage, you may be making sales without actually making enough profit.
Food Cost Percentage helps you understand how much of your selling price is going into producing your food or product.

Formula:
Food Cost % = (Food Cost ÷ Selling Price) × 100

For example:
If it costs you ₦2,000 to produce a product and you sell it for ₦4,000:
₦2,000 ÷ ₦4,000 × 100 = 50% Food Cost

WHY SHOULD YOU KNOW YOUR FOOD COST?
1. It helps you set the right selling price.
You cannot confidently price your product if you don't know how much it costs you to produce it.
2. It helps you know your actual profit.
A product can have a high selling price and still give you a very small profit if the cost of production is too high.
3. It helps you control unnecessary costs.
When you know your numbers, you can identify expensive ingredients, wastage, excessive portions and other areas where money is leaking.
4. It helps you make better business decisions.
You can decide which products to promote, which ones need a price adjustment and which products may not be profitable.
5. It helps you plan for growth.
As your business grows, small costing mistakes can become very big financial problems.

THE DANGER OF NOT CALCULATING YOUR FOOD COST CORRECTLY
You may:

1. Sell below your actual cost without knowing it.
2. Underprice your products and struggle to make profit.
3.Overprice your products because your costing is inaccurate.
4.Spend your sales revenue thinking it is profit.
5.Run out of cash even though your business is making sales.
6. Make wrong decisions about which products to produce.
7. Grow your business while your profit margin keeps shrinking.

And one of the biggest mistakes is
Copying another business's price without knowing YOUR OWN cost of production.
Their ingredients, suppliers, packaging, rent, labour and other expenses may be completely different from yours.

Your business needs your own numbers.

If you want to learn food costing and pricing properly, I teach practical food business owners how to calculate their costs, determine profitable prices and understand their numbers. Join The Ultimate Food Costing and Pricing School.

“Your Food Business Is Not Making Money Because You Don’t Know Your Numbers.”

Your food business may be busy, but is it actually making money?

One of the biggest mistakes I see food business owners make is setting their selling price based on what competitors are selling.

“Others are selling it for ₦2,000, so I will sell mine for ₦2,000.”

But have you asked yourself:
• How much does it actually cost me to produce one unit?
• Did I include packaging?
• Did I include gas, electricity, transportation and labour?
• What percentage of my sales price is my profit?
• Am I making profit or simply generating sales?

High sales do not always mean high profit.
You can sell out every day and still struggle financially if your pricing is wrong.

Before you increase your production, employ more people or spend more money on advertising, know your numbers.

Your food business needs more than good food.
It needs proper costing, strategic pricing and good financial decisions.

If you don't know your exact cost per unit, you don't really know how much you're making.

Food business owners, learn to price with numbers, not emotions.

To learn more you can join The Ultimate Food costing and pricing school.

YOUR CUSTOMER IS NOT EVERYBODY

One of the biggest mistakes I see food business owners make is trying to sell to everybody.

“People said my product is too expensive, so I reduced the price.”
“Someone said they don't like the packaging, so I changed it.”

“A customer said they prefer a different flavour, so I added it.”
Before long, the business owner is running a business based on everyone else's opinions instead of a clear customer strategy.

This is why you need an Ideal Customer Avatar (ICA).
Your ideal customer avatar is a clear picture of the person your product is specifically designed to serve.

For example, if you sell healthy granola, your ideal customer might be:
A busy professional or parent who wants a convenient, nutritious breakfast/snack, values quality ingredients and is willing to pay for a healthier option.

Once you know this person, your decisions become easier.
You know what to post.
You know where to advertise.
You know what packaging will appeal to them.
You know what price range makes sense.
You know what problems your product should solve.
And most importantly, you stop trying to please everybody.

BUT HERE IS THE PART MANY FOOD BUSINESS OWNERS GET WRONG:
You should listen to your customers, but you don't have to obey every customer.
WHAT SHOULD YOU TAKE FROM YOUR CUSTOMERS?

Take their patterns, not just individual opinions.
Pay attention to:
• What they repeatedly complain about
• What they repeatedly ask for
• Why they buy from you
• Why they don't buy
• Which products they buy most
• What they say about your taste, packaging and convenience
• What they are willing to pay for
• What makes them come back
• What they say about your competitors

These are valuable business insights.
If 20 customers independently tell you that your packaging is difficult to open, pay attention.
If several customers consistently ask for a smaller, more affordable pack, investigate the opportunity.
If your target customers repeatedly say they love your product but find it difficult to access, that's a problem worth solving.

WHAT SHOULD YOU NOT TAKE FROM CUSTOMERS?
Don't take every suggestion as an instruction.
One customer saying:
“Your product is too expensive”
doesn't automatically mean your price is wrong.
One person saying:
“I don't like the flavour”
doesn't mean the flavour should be changed.
One person saying:
“You should add this product”
doesn't mean you should start producing it.
And one person asking for credit doesn't mean you should give credit.
Your customers can give you information, but you are responsible for making the business decision.
This is where knowing your numbers, your market and your ideal customer becomes extremely important.
Before changing anything, ask:
Is this feedback coming from my ideal customer?
Is this a repeated pattern or just one person's opinion?
Will making this change improve the business?
Does it align with my brand and business goals?

Remember:
Listen to your customers. Study your customers. Learn from your customers.
But don't let every customer run your business.
You are the business owner.
Your job is not to please everybody.
Your job is to build a profitable business that consistently creates value for the right customers.
Who is your ideal customer?
If you can't describe them clearly, it's time to create your customer avatar.

I'm rooting for your success.
