Model Railways and Me

This is a channel showcasing my devotion to a hobby that may benefit those not just looking for an alternative form of therapy, but also shows that in todays ever changing and somewhat deteriorating world.. the passion and hobby of Model Railways will stand strong... and will always benefit in a positive way... as it did for me.

In addition to shorts showing repairs and restorations, you can enjoy throwbacks with programs centred on the hobby along with coverage of various exhibitions.

More content is viewable on TikTok and on X (formally Twitter)

The hobby we all need in this world... Model Railways... and me :)

This Tri-ang set is edging closer to being brought back to working order sometime next week :)

This Saturday, I'll be covering my first Garden Railway exhibition at Elsecar and will be keeping my eyes open for more bargains and finds at the next Donnie Collectors show. ^^

Remembering Bolt.

Just afew years ago, the railway and feline world lost Felix,
the famous station cat who prowled around the platforms of Huddersfield Railway Station, who would go on to become a social media sensation, during that time she took her new apprentice Bolt under her Paw who would soon follow, but would the later retire not too long after Felix's passing.

Today in messaging an old friend, I found out about Bolts sudden and tragic death from a week ago.

Suffice to say on a personal level, the town will never be the same without either of them. :(

This weekend at Pontefract, I got my first Deltic, a 70s Lima model, still a great runner.

Although it was at first missing it's buffers it was in better shape than the Mainline J72 that had split axles, pretty much had enough of them after my B1 fixup.

Model Railways and Me

October will be the busiest month in covering this years remaining local model railway shows, on top of three, I'll be covering Elsecars first garden railway show since 2022 following the completion of the refurbished Ironworks building, hopefully a sign of its toy train and collectors fair returning next year.

Here's a throwback to one of my earliest filmed from 2009.

Model Railways and Me

Today I began coverage of the remaining local shows for this year and will upload today's Sheffield show at some point next week...

I must however stress that throughout most of the day I was repeatedly followed around, put off and interrupted of filming by a regular to these events... And whilst I've brought the matter forward to the event organizers I'm hoping it won't be repeated, not the first time I've witnessed poor supervision given the altercation I had to deal with not too long back.

Either way I look forward to covering the remaining events of the year and hope you guys will enjoy them too :)

Back in May, this old Hornby Pannier was restored from a £3 chassis, today, it finally received it's running number from Light Railway Stores, 5786.

Until 2015 its livery was early BR black.

This loco is curry preserved in London Transport Livery at the South Devon Railway.

I know is been a little quiet recently as I've had limited travel opportunities at the moment and am awaiting a pass renewal and the heatwave hasn't helped much either, this Saturday coming i'll be attending my first model show in Pickering but may have to cover most of it as a short as me and my Mum are going together, and our time will be limited given the travel distance.

And although the Victorian Weekend for this summer has been cancelled because of the of the heatwave, i'm still hoping to enjoy my Birthday at Butterly this year.

You have to celebrate your own day one way or another :P
