Greetings from San Francisco🐾
If you didn’t know Joy's story, you might see nothing more than a happy dog on a beach. But we know what this moment means.

Not long ago, she was living in a village in Romania, kept on a chain in a backyard, with the world existing somewhere beyond the limits of what she was allowed to see.

Today, she is walking along a beach in San Francisco, with her adoptive family beside her and a whole new life ahead of her.

It’s hard to explain what it feels like to see a dog who once had so little freedom standing in a place like this.

Sometimes, rescue stories don't just have happy endings.
They have breathtaking beginnings.

Some of the dogs at our shelter have been digging some very deep holes in the yard — and with winter approaching, we know these areas are going to become very muddy.

So, we want to give them a special place where they can dig to their hearts’ content!

We’re planning to build two sand pits, one in each yard, each approximately 2.5 × 2 metres, surrounded by concrete blocks.

Mimi has been waiting at our shelter for the family who will look past her shyness and see the loving little dog she becomes once she feels safe.

Mimi is only 3 years old and small in size. She can be shy with people she doesn’t know, and she won’t immediately run into your arms. She needs a little patience. A little kindness. A little time.

But once she trusts you… you’ll meet a completely different dog. ❤️

She is incredibly sweet and loving with the people she feels safe with. And she is such an easy girl to have around:
🐾 Fully house-trained
🐾 Walks beautifully on a leash
🐾 Doesn’t chew
🐾 Doesn’t destroy things
🐾 Very calm and well behaved
🐾 Gentle and affectionate with the people she trusts

She needs a family who will understand that trust isn’t always instant. Someone who will give her the time she needs to come out of her shell. Someone who will show her, perhaps for the first time, what it feels like to truly belong.

Because behind that shy little face is a heart full of love.

Can you please help us help 50 dogs?

Many of you are probably already familiar with the situation in Romania: the number of abandoned dogs continues to be overwhelmingly huge.

Sterilization is the most effective way to prevent unwanted births and decrease the number of abandoned and homeless animals.
But many dog owners face financial hardship and cannot afford to pay the vet bills. And thus unplanned or unwanted litters often end up surrendered to the city pounds or abandoned on the streets, increasing the already huge number of homeless dogs.

We are organizing a free spay/neuter campaign in partnership with Vetlink Resita
The campaign has started on January 26, 2026 and we will be providing free spay/neuter and microchipping for 50 dogs. Here are some of the dogs we have already neutered/spayed this week.

But to accomplish this we need your help too.🙏

Even a small donation can have a significant impact on preventing dogs from ending up abandoned on the cold streets to face starvation, diseases, accidents and abuse.

It's been one year since we rescued Vera and she still hasn't been adopted.
She has endured so much in her life, being shot, abandoned, hit by a car, then chained and neglected for months. Too much suffering for an innocent soul who still loves people more than anything in the world.
Please help us find a home for Vera! She is at our shelter in Romania but we adopt internationally too.

Why do dogs love us so much?

Asha spent 4 years confined to a small kennel at the city pound. And, as time passed, her love didn't fade away. Not having anyone there to share it with, her love kept on piling up, growing bigger and bigger.
Now Asha is in our care and she will soon be travelling to Germany, where a loving adoptive family is waiting for her.
Adopting a dog is the most wonderful, deeply rewarding experience: the amount of love you get is second to none and it lasts beyond time.
