Welcome to Ballistics John.
If you've ever wondered what actually works—not what marketing or internet opinions say, but what happens when you put it to the test—you're in the right place.
Ballistics John documents the journey of becoming a more confident marksman through honest testing, precision shooting, reloading, and ethical hunting in South Africa. Every video explores real questions with real experiments, real data, and real-world results. You'll see the successes, mistakes, and lessons learned along the way.
Whether you're developing a hunting load, preparing for a precision rifle match, or understanding your rifle better, this channel is about making informed decisions through evidence—not assumptions.
Expect:
• Reloading & load development
• Precision rifle & long-range shooting
• Honest gear testing
• Competitions & hunting
• Real-world experiments
We're not here to prove who's right. We're here to discover what actually works.
Stay safe. Shoot straight.

🔥 NRL HUNTER PART 2 IS LIVE NOW!
The journey through my first-ever NRL Hunter AXE Vlakte Jagter continues! 🎯🇿🇦
While Part 1 concentrated quite heavily on what I was experiencing as a newcomer, Part 2 gives you much more of the rest of the team, their approach to the stages, the lessons I was picking up along the way, and more of the overall match experience.

MY FIRST NRL HUNTER MATCH 🎯
Practice day was one thing.
This time there was a scorecard, four minutes on the clock and no do-overs.
I got to shadow Ryno through the stages, attempted the longest shot I've ever taken in competition, learned a ridiculous amount and discovered very quickly that NRL Hunter is about much more than simply shooting accurately.
The Match Day video is now live.
What do you think would be the hardest part — finding the targets, ranging them, building the position or making the shot under the clock?

A small box…
A big upgrade… 👀🔥
Just collected something very interesting from Gunwarrior today.
I’m not giving too much away yet, but I think this one is going to be a very nice addition to the setup.
Full reveal coming soon. 🎯

The NRL Hunter journey has officially started! 🔥🎯🇿🇦
This was my first ever NRL Hunter competition — the AXE Vlakte Jagter — and what an experience it was.
The teaser is live now and gives just a small taste of what’s coming in the full video. Positional shooting, pressure, lessons learned, great people, and a completely different challenge from what I’m used to.
I was also extremely fortunate to walk away with 2nd Place in the Skills Division at my first event. 🏆
A massive thank you again to @Axebullets, Ryno Smith, Liam Price, and everyone involved in making the weekend such a memorable introduction to NRL Hunter. 👊
👉 Watch the teaser here:

The full competition video is coming soon, with more NRL Hunter content over the next two weeks.
Stay tuned — this is only the beginning. 😁🎯

NRL HUNTER PREPARATION IS GETTING SERIOUS! 🎯
Last Saturday I had the opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with Liam Price working on NRL Hunter.
Absolutely incredible experience.
The session was extremely insightful, and I can now understand why Liam is one of the top shooters in NRL Hunter. There were so many small details and techniques that I simply hadn't considered before.
Thank you, Liam, for your time, knowledge and willingness to share it. 👊
And then came another piece of very exciting news...
I'm going to be paired with Ryno Smith for the upcoming NRL Hunter AXE Vlakte Jagter match! 🇿🇦🎯
I'm seriously looking forward to this one.
I've got plenty to learn, plenty to practise and now a great opportunity to put everything I've been working on into practice.
Vlakte Jagter... here we come! 🔥
The next chapter of the Ballistics John NRL Hunter journey is going to be a good one.

The night before NRL Hunter practice… 🎯
The bench is busy and the ammunition is getting prepared for tomorrow's practice session.
Now it's time to take everything I've been working on — handloading, rifle setup, load development and plenty of lessons learned along the way — and put it to the test on the range.
Tomorrow should be interesting! 👀
Keep your eyes peeled — videos coming soon! 🔥
