This is the first time Steven Spielberg has made a film about aliens or UFOs since 2005's War of the Worlds — a full twenty years away from the genre that made him a legend with Close Encounters and E.T. It's built from an original story idea by Spielberg himself, with the screenplay written by his frequent collaborator David Koepp, who also wrote Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds. The master of the alien movie finally came back — the recap breaks down everything he brought with him 👉

She mortgaged her house, burned every bridge, and bet it all on a few minutes of live television — and it was dying on air. Nobody was buying. Then one phone call flipped everything. In real life Joy Mangano sold more than 18,000 Miracle Mops in that single QVC appearance, and her best friend really did secretly call in pretending to be a customer to get it started. The film changes just enough to twist the knife — watch how close she came to losing everything 👉 https://youtu.be/Gx8pOW7jRZk

The title has a deliberate double meaning: "Race" refers both to the track-and-field events Owens competes in and to the racism he faces from both 1930s America and Nazi Germany. Reviewers noted the non-athletic meaning cuts hardest at how badly people of color were treated in America during this period — not only in Germany. That double meaning is the whole heart of the story — the recap unpacks it 👉 https://youtu.be/z6je4XJL8y0

Season two swaps the time loop for the 6 train. Rosie O'Donnell voices the subway announcer, most of the train sequences were shot on LED virtual production stages rather than real track, and the final sequence of the entire series — so far — was filmed in the vast flooded stone cisterns underneath Budapest. That's where the show currently stops. Everything leading up to it, recapped 👉 https://youtu.be/UTnyZPQ_qEI

Perrotta optioned the novel to HBO in 2011 — before the book was even published — right around the time preacher Harold Camping was publicly predicting the Rapture would arrive on May 21, 2011. Lindelof got interested after reading Stephen King's New York Times review of it, thinking that Perrotta stepping into the supernatural, anointed by his hero, was a bold move. The two New Jersey natives were introduced by an HBO executive, but Lindelof was still under contract at ABC and told to stay away — so they built an email friendship and didn't meet in person until June 2012. Everything that follows came out of that
