Radio listeners are often driving, working, cooking, or doing something else while your commercial plays, which means the message has to compete with more than the next advertisement.
The strongest spots understand that the goal is not to make listeners remember every word. It is to make sure they remember the right words, whether that is the problem being solved, the brand, the benefit, or the reason to take action.
I wrote about what listeners actually process when a radio ad plays, what tends to disappear without a trace, and how creative choices can help the important parts stick.Click the link in the comments to read.

They recognize the overly excited delivery. They recognize the predictable opening. They recognize the moment a voice suddenly shifts into "commercial mode."
That does not mean radio advertising cannot earn attention. It means the commercial has to give listeners a reason to stay.
I wrote about what makes a radio ad feel trustworthy, from the script and pacing to the voice, specificity, and creative choices that help a message sound human instead of formulaic.

You may have more than 30 seconds to tell the story, but you do not have much longer than that to establish trust.
Viewers are already responding to the tone, pacing, visuals, narration, music, and overall feel of a video or television piece before they know the full story. When those elements feel authentic and connected, the audience is more likely to stay. When they feel forced or disconnected, trust can disappear just as quickly.
I wrote about why those opening moments matter so much and the production choices that can help a piece feel credible from the very beginning. Click the link in the comments to read.

A brand can produce a fantastic campaign and still struggle to build long-term recognition if every new piece of content feels completely disconnected from the last one.
Consistency does not mean making every commercial, explainer, social video, or branded story look and sound identical. It means giving audiences recognizable signals that continue from one piece of content to the next, even when the format, message, and creative idea change.
Over time, those repeated experiences can make a brand feel familiar before the audience has even seen the logo.
I wrote about why brand consistency in video content matters beyond a single campaign, and how production teams can create variety while still building a recognizable brand experience over the years.

Hiring a voice actor for a 1-minute promo is easy. Hiring a narrator for a 40-module eLearning course is a massive project management risk. π
At that scale, you arenβt just buying a voice. You are investing in long-term production stamina.
If you make the choice based purely on a 30-second audition sample, you might hit some major bottlenecks by module 15.
For large-scale corporate training or online learning, these hidden operational factors will make or break your production timeline:
β’ File organization & naming conventions across hundreds of files
β’ Extreme vocal consistency (matching the exact pitch and pacing from module 1 to module 40)
β’ Pronunciation management for complex internal jargon
β’ Realistic turnaround commitments and predictable revision workflows
A great learning experience requires a smooth backend production.
I broke down exactly what instructional designers and L&D managers should look out for before signing a narrator to a large-scale project.
Let's discuss: What is the biggest bottleneck youβve ever faced when managing audio for long-form courses? π

Some of the hardest videos to produce are the ones that have to communicate information people may not want to hear, whether that is a company change, a new policy, a healthcare update, or another difficult announcement.
The challenge is not simply finding the right words. The visuals, pacing, music, editing, and delivery all influence whether the audience feels informed and respected or feels like they are being managed into a particular reaction.
I wrote about how production and communication teams can approach difficult information with more clarity, empathy, and restraint while still creating a message that feels polished and professional.

Some documentaries make you trust the story almost immediately, while others seem determined to convince you that every moment is important.
The difference is not always the research, the subject, or even the quality of the production. Sometimes it comes down to restraint, especially in the narration, pacing, music, and overall emotional tone.
I wrote about why some documentaries feel authoritative and credible without becoming overly dramatic, and why giving the audience room to think can sometimes create a much stronger connection to the story.

Humor can make a brand feel more human, memorable, and relatable, but getting a laugh is not the only thing that matters when humor becomes part of brand communication.
The real question is whether the audience feels included in the joke or whether they feel like the joke is being made at their expense. That distinction can completely change how a message is received, especially when brands are communicating with audiences who bring different experiences, expectations, and perspectives to the conversation.
I wrote about the difference between humor that creates connection and humor that creates distance, along with a few questions creative and marketing teams can ask before a humorous message goes live.

Most organizations focus on improving the content of their internal communication, and that absolutely matters. At the same time, there is another piece of the puzzle that often gets overlooked.
The way a message sounds has a direct impact on how employees receive it. A thoughtful, conversational voice can make training, onboarding, and leadership communication feel more approachable, more engaging, and ultimately more memorable.
This week, I wrote about why the delivery behind internal communication deserves just as much attention as the words themselves. If you've ever wondered why great content sometimes falls flat, I think you'll enjoy this one. Click the link in the comments to read. π

Radio has no visuals to rescue weak writing.
Every word has to earn its place.
This week, I wrote about why radio writing remains one of the most underrated crafts in audio production and why its lessons still shape great storytelling today. Check the link in comments to read!
