πΈ DIY BODY MIST β SMELL GOOD WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK! πΈ
My people, Iβm still waiting ooo! π
I have been teaching you all these things, posting recipes and ideas, but Iβm still waiting for you to submit your own work and show me what youβve been doing! πβ€οΈ
Now, let's make something simple today.
You want to smell nice without breaking the bank? You can easily make your own body mist at home! πΈβ¨
𧴠SIMPLE 100 mL BODY MIST RECIPE.
π§ Distilled water β 70 mL
πΈ Cosmetic/perfumer's alcohol β 20 mL
πΈ Fragrance oil β 5 mL
β¨ Polysorbate 20 β 5 mL
Total = 100 mL
πΊ And here is where you can create your own signature scent!
Instead of using just one fragrance oil, divide your 5 mL fragrance portion among different notes.
For example:
Blend 1 β Sweet & Feminine πΉ
β’ Bergamot β 1.5 mL
β’ Rose β 2 mL
β’ Vanilla β 1.5 mL
Blend 2 β Fresh & Classy πΈ
β’ Lemon β 1.5 mL
β’ Jasmine β 2 mL
β’ Musk β 1.5 mL
Blend 3 β Fruity & Warm π
β’ Orange β 1.5 mL
β’ Lavender β 2 mL
β’ Vanilla β 1.5 mL
π©π½βπ¬ METHOD
1οΈβ£ Combine your 5 mL fragrance blend with 5 mL Polysorbate 20 and mix thoroughly.
2οΈβ£ Add 20 mL cosmetic/perfumer's alcohol and mix gently.
3οΈβ£ Slowly add 70 mL distilled water, stirring as you go.
4οΈβ£ Allow it to rest for 24β48 hours so the fragrance can blend and settle.
5οΈβ£ Transfer into a clean spray bottle.
6οΈβ£ Shake gently before use if necessary.
And there you have it! ππΈ
A simple body mist you can make for yourself or develop into a product to sell.
But please, my formulators πβfragrance oils differ in strength, so check the supplier's IFRA limit for body products before making your final formulation. And because this formula contains water, proper preservation and stability testing are important if you're making it for sale.
Now, where is your own submission? ππ
Don't just watch my posts. Make something and show me what you've learned! β€οΈ

ZESTA HERBAL SKINCARE AND LIFESTYLE.
For the past few days, weβve been making soap, soap and more soap! ππ§Ό
Bathing soap, laundry soapβ¦ weβve really been making soap!
So I said, okay, letβs try something different today. π
Because complete skincare is not exclusive to only soaps. Body creams and body butters are also important products you can add to your skincare line.
Soap gets washed off, but body cream stays on the skin much longer, giving the skin more time to moisturise and benefit from its ingredients. π§΄β¨
So today, letβs make a simple, rich and creamy emulsified body cream that you can make to go along with your soaps.
And this one is simple β
π§ SIMPLE EMULSIFIED BODY CREAM β 1 KG
π PHASE A β WATER PHASE
- Distilled water β 527 g
- Glycerin β 40 g
π§ PHASE B β OIL/BUTTER PHASE
- Shea butter β 150 g
- Mango butter β 50 g
- Sunflower oil β 80 g
- Emulsifying wax β 60 g
- Cetyl alcohol β 30 g
πΏ PHASE C β COOL-DOWN PHASE
- Niacinamide β 30 g
- Panthenol β 10 g
- Vitamin E β 5 g
- Broad-spectrum preservative β 10 g*
- Fragrance β 8 g
TOTAL = 1,000 g
π©π½βπ¬ PROCEDURE
1οΈβ£ Prepare your water phase
Measure the distilled water and glycerin into your heat-resistant container.
Mix well and heat to approximately 70β75Β°C.
2οΈβ£ Prepare your oil phase
In another heat-resistant container, combine:
- Shea butter
- Mango butter
- Sunflower oil
- Emulsifying wax
- Cetyl alcohol
Heat to approximately 70β75Β°C, until everything has completely melted.
3οΈβ£ Emulsify
When both phases are at approximately the same temperature, slowly add the oil phase into the water phase while mixing.
Use a stick blender or homogeniser and blend until you get a smooth, uniform cream.
4οΈβ£ Cool down
Continue stirring gently as the cream cools.
When the temperature drops below approximately 40Β°C, add:
- Niacinamide
- Panthenol
- Vitamin E
- Preservative
- Fragrance
Mix thoroughly.
5οΈβ£ Check your pH
Use a calibrated pH meter to check the finished cream.
π― Aim for approximately pH 5.5β6.0.
Adjust carefully if necessary.
6οΈβ£ Package
Allow the cream to cool completely, then fill into your clean, sanitised containers.
And there you have it! π
A simple, rich and creamy emulsified body cream that you can make alongside your soaps.
β€οΈ BUT THIS TIME, I HAVE A REQUEST!
Please don't just watch this video, save the recipe and move on. π
I want you to actually TRY IT!
Make your own batch and come back to show me:
πΈ A picture of your finished product
π¬ Tell me how the texture came out
𧴠Tell me how it feels on the skin
β€οΈ And tell me whether you liked it!
I really want to see your results because we are learning together.
And as usual, tell me in the comments:
ππ½ What product do you want us to learn next?
Your suggestion might just become our next recipe! π
Now let's make some body cream! π§΄β¨

STOP SCROLLING! π If you wash white clothes, this one is for you! ππ§Ό
Tell me why you can wash a beautiful white shirt until your hands are tired, but the armpit area will still be looking brown? π©π
And those stubborn stains around the inner thighs of trousersβ¦ chai! π
Then there are those menstrual stains that decide they have paid rent and are NOT leaving the cloth! ππ
Normally, youβll wash, soak, add bleach, wash againβ¦ before you know it, one simple shirt has turned into a whole afternoon project. π€¦ββοΈ
So I said to myselfβ¦
βWhy not make a laundry soap that already has that whitening action in the wash?β π€π‘
And thatβs exactly what I made! π§Όβ¨
For this batch, I used:
π₯₯ 1 Litre Coconut Oil or PKO
𫧠100 ml Liquid Soap
π§ 1 tablespoon Salt
β¨ 100 ml Hydrogen Peroxide
π§ͺ 178 g Caustic Soda
π§ 450 ml Water
Mix properly, pour into your moulds, allow to set for about 24 hours, then unmould and cut.
Imagine putting your clothes in the wash and not having to start another bleaching process separately. π
Now tell me honestlyβ¦
Which one gives you the biggest headache: brown armpits, inner-thigh stains, or menstrual stains? ππ

πͺ» LETβS MAKE BEAUTIFUL LAVENDER TRANSPARENT SOAP! ππ§Ό
Have you ever looked at a beautiful transparent soap and wondered, βHow did they get it so clear?β π
Well, this is exactly the kind of formulation I love teaching in my soap-making classβnot just copying a recipe, but understanding why each ingredient is there and how the formulation works.
Today, weβre making a beautiful Lavender Transparent Bathing Soap from scratch. π
π§ͺ RECIPE
Oil/Fatty Acid Phase β 1,000 g
β’ Coconut Oil β 900 g
β’ Stearic Acid β 100 g
Lye Phase
β’ Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) β 178 g
β’ Distilled Water β 250 g
Transparency System
β’ Sugar β 250 g
β’ Vegetable Glycerin β 300 g
β’ Ethanol/Alcohol β 500 g
Finishing Ingredients
β’ Lavender Essential Oil β 10 g
β’ Purple Mica β 1β2 g
β’ Dried Lavender Buds β 2β5 g.
πΏ DON'T HAVE LAVENDER?
No problem! π
If you cannot find lavender, you can choose another suitable herb or botanical of your choice and create your own variation.
And if coconut oil isn't available, palm kernel oil (PkO) can be considered as an alternative.
Don't just learn recipes. Learn formulation! π§ͺβ€οΈ
When you understand formulation, you can substitute ingredients intelligently, create your own variations, troubleshoot your batches and formulate products with your business in mind.
That's what I want to teach you in my ZESTA Soap-Making Class.
π© If you want to stop depending on random recipes and actually understand what you're doing, send me a DM and join the class.

π§Όβ¨ LET'S MAKE HIGH-FOAM SELF-DRYING DETERGENT POWDER!
My people, you have been asking me for different detergent recipes, so today let's make something a little different. π
This is a 1 kg trial formulation designed to give us good cleaning, good foam power without loading the formulation with too much sodium sulphate as filler.
π§ͺ RECIPE FOR 1 KG
β©οΈLets Start with our Surfactants & neutralization ingredients.
- LABSA 96% purity β 120 g
- SLS powder β 80 g
- Caustic soda flakes β 16 g
- Water for dissolving the caustic β about 30g
β©οΈNext our Builders & supporting ingredients
- Soda ash β 180 g
- STPP β 80 g
- Sodium silicate powder β 50 g
- Sodium sulphate β 363 g
- Zeolite 4A β 80 g
- CMC β 10 g
- Sodium bicarbonate β 30 g
- Optical brightener β 1 g
- Fragrance β 5 g
- Colour β 1 g
π§ͺ HOW TO NEUTRALIZE THE LABSA
This part is VERY important.
Do NOT pour dry caustic soda directly into LABSA. The reaction produces considerable heat.
1οΈβ£ Measure 16 g caustic soda flakes.
2οΈβ£ Measure about 30 g clean water into a suitable container.
3οΈβ£ Slowly add the caustic soda INTO the water, stirring carefully until completely dissolved.
β οΈ Never pour water onto a pile of caustic soda. Wear gloves, goggles and appropriate protective equipment.
4οΈβ£ Allow the caustic solution to cool.
5οΈβ£ Put the 120 g LABSA into your mixing container.
6οΈβ£ Slowly add the cooled caustic solution to the LABSA while stirring continuously.
7οΈβ£ Keep mixing and check the pH.
π― Aim for approximately pH 7β8 for the neutralization stage.
The LABSA is now converted from the acidic form into its sodium salt, LAS, which is the active anionic detergent surfactant.
π§Ό NOW LET'S MAKE THE POWDER
Step 1 β Prepare the dry base
Sieve and mix:
- Sodium sulphate
- Soda ash
- STPP
- Zeolite
- Sodium silicate powder
- Sodium bicarbonate
Mix very thoroughly so that everything is evenly distributed.
Step 2 β Add the CMC
Add your CMC gradually and mix very well to prevent lumps.
Step 3 β Add the neutralized LABSA
This is where you need patience.
Add the neutralized LABSA gradually into the dry mixture while continuously mixing.
Don't dump everything in one place.
Mix thoroughly and break up any wet lumps as you go.
Step 4 β Add SLS
Add the SLS powder gradually and mix properly.
Step 5 β Add colour and optical brightener
Add your colour and optical brightener and mix until evenly distributed.
Step 6 - This is optional, But If you decide to still dry it, Spread the mixture in a thin layer in a clean, well-ventilated area for a day or two.
Step 7 β Fragrance
Add the fragrance little by little and mix thoroughly.
Finally, sieve the finished powder and package it in a moisture-resistant container or bag.
πΏ WHAT ABOUT ZEOLITE?
Some of you may be wondering, βAunty Zesta, where will I find zeolite?β π
Don't worry.
4A zeolite is used in detergent manufacturing, and it is available through some Nigerian industrial chemical suppliers. Please google or ask around you.
So when buying, ask specifically for:
π Zeolite 4A / detergent-grade zeolite
Don't just buy any random mineral powder and assume it is zeolite.
β€οΈ AND ONE MORE THING...
This is a 1 kg TEST BATCH.
Please don't jump straight from 1 kg to 100 kg production. π
Test it first for:
β Foam
β Cleaning power
β Powder flow
β Moisture
β Lumping
β Final pH
β Storage stability
And remember, my people:
More foam does not automatically mean better cleaning.
We're looking for the right balance between foam + cleaning + water softening + powder quality.
If you try this recipe, come back and tell me how yours turned out! π

HOW TO MAKE A LONG-LASTING, HARD BROWN TRANSLUCENT LAUNDRY SOAP π§Όβ¨
Are you βtired of laundry soap that melts away in water after just a few uses?
Here is my exact formula for a rock-hard, long-lasting bar that still gives a rich lather!
βThe secret lies in the fatty acid balance in Red Palm Oil, its Loaded with palmitic acid for ultimate bar hardness, durability, and a rich warm brown tone.
βPalm Kernel Oil (PKO) is High in lauric acid to ensure an excellent foaming action, even in cold water.
βπ§ͺ RECIPE (For a 3kg Batch)
β
βRed Palm Oil: 770 g (or 700g Palm Oil + 150g Coconut Oil + 250g PKO for extra foam)
βPalm Kernel Oil (PKO): 330 g
βCaustic Soda: 158 g
βWater: 350 ml
βEthanol (95%): 300 ml
βSugar Syrup: 250 g of
sugar dissolved in 200 ml hot water.
βGlycerin: 250 ml.
βπ₯£ PROCEDURE.
Remember, βSafety First: Put on your safety goggles, gloves, and mask. Always work in a well-ventilated space or outdoors.
β Slowly add Caustic Soda to water (never pour water into soda!).
Stir and let cool to 50Β°C.
β
Melt Palm Oil and PKO together, bringing the temperature to 50β52Β°C.
β
Slowly pour the lye solution into the oils. Stir continuously in one direction until it thickens to a custard-like trace (about 8β12 minutes).
β Place the mixture over a double boiler or on low heat. Add ethanol, cover, and let cook for 15 minutes until it clears up.
Stir in the glycerin, followed by the hot sugar syrup. (If slightly cloudy, add a small splash of hot water).
βPour quickly into your moulds before it thickens. It will set in 2β3 hours.
βπ‘ Tips for Success
β
βCure Time is Key: Let the soap cure for 10 to 14 days. Using it at 3 days means a soft core; at 14 days, it becomes rock hard.
β
The high glycerin and sugar content balance the high palm oil to keep the bar smooth rather than brittle.
More palm oil creates a deep amber-brown tone; reduce by 100β200g for a lighter golden shade.
βπ Have you tried this recipe before, or have your own favorite oil ratio for laundry soap? Letβs chat in the comments!
Comment with the type of soap you want us to make next.
