The truth is, replacing your salary and escaping your job will probably take 1 to 3 years.

That is not what everyone wants to hear, because a lot of creators romanticise the process and make it look like success happens overnight.

It doesn’t.

It takes consistency, sacrifice, learning, resilience and staying in the game long enough to build something that actually pays your bills and gives you freedom in return.

But 1 to 3 years is not a long time if the end result is decades of greater control over your time, income and life.

Just KEEP going. . .

When it gets tough, keep going. When you feel like nothing’s working, have a day off. Clear your head. Then get back to it.

People judge you. They tell you it won’t work. Fine. They’re allowed their opinion. Keep going.

A year passes and not much has happened. You’re learning, even if you’ve got little to show for it. Keep going.

Two years pass. There’s a bit of progress, but nothing special. Look at what’s working, change what isn’t, and keep going.

I’m 34, and honestly, if there’s one thing I could pass on, it’s that.

Content creation, business, life. You won’t always feel confident or see the results when you want them. But you can keep looking for solutions instead of getting stuck on the problems.

I try to treat whatever happens as information. Good news, bad news, it’s still something I need to decide how to respond to.

That’s why I don’t follow the news or listen to the radio. I’m selective about what gets my attention and who I spend time around. I focus on what I can actually control.

Life isn’t personal. It’s a teacher. When something keeps going wrong, I have to ask what part I’m playing in it and what I can do differently.

Keep going doesn’t mean doing the same thing forever and hoping. It means being willing to learn, adjust and give yourself another chance.

You’re allowed to be tired. You’re allowed a day off. You don’t have to have it all figured out today.

You might be doing better than you think. Keep going

Maturity takes time. Wisdom comes through experience. Failure teaches you what rushing never will.

You can’t skip the work and expect the outcome.

Stop measuring your progress against someone else’s timeline. Keep showing up, keep learning and give yourself time to become the person you’re working towards.

You see the numbers. You don’t see the years when nothing seemed to be working.

Six years on YouTube. The first four brought barely any views and no financial reward. Five years on Instagram. Three before any financial return, with accounts lost along the way and the frustration of rebuilding from scratch. Four years on TikTok. Two without reward, learning to put myself out there and accept the judgement that came with it.

Behind these numbers are over 16,000 posts. No selling in my content. Just showing up and giving away free value, even when it felt like nobody was listening.

What you don’t see is the self doubt, the failed attempts and the stress of managing 12 social media profiles myself. Multiple platforms. Posting or livestreaming every single day. The obsession with improving while wondering whether the work would ever pay off.

Imagine putting years into something without financial proof that it’s working. Still creating. Still learning. Still finding the energy to go again when another post barely gets seen.

I trusted myself and the process. That didn’t mean I always felt confident. It meant I kept working through the doubt.

Since then, that work has helped generate seven figures in revenue, over a billion organic views and directly impacted more than a million lives. I’ve worked with over 67 brands, secured over 30 sponsorships and, within the last three years, built two six figure businesses in under 18 months each.

It’s taken me onto incredible stages and brought more lucrative opportunities than I have the capacity to take on. Looking back, the work behind closed doors was worth it. But there was nothing quick or easy about getting here.

Content creation is a business. In my experience, one of the hardest to build, because you can put in years of work before seeing a meaningful return. Yet people still dismiss it as someone posting on their phone.

If you’re building a business, learning to create content gives you a way to get seen, earn trust and bring people towards what you offer. Attention alone won’t pay your mortgage, but a business nobody knows about will struggle to pay it too.

For a content-led business, the connection is clear: no views, no leads. No leads, no sales. No sales, no revenue. And without revenue, there’s no business to support the life you’re trying to build.

These numbers took years. Remember that when you’re judging your own progress after a few months.
