One of my favourite photographic essays of all time is W. Eugene Smith's *Country Doctor* (1948).
Photographing for Life Magazine, Eugene Smith followed the everyday life of Dr. Ernest Ceriani, a physician working in rural Colorado. And in my eyes, the photographer created something far more meaningful than just documentary about medicine. It's an intimate portrait of a human's being's compassion, exhaustion, and, above all, also about human condition.
A reminder that great photography isn't always about the extraordinary, but about how deeply we can observe our subjects and the relationships we're willing to build with them, alongside of course developing a deep understanding over the lives of others.
