So about Demon Hunter suing K-Pop Demon Hunters...

A lot of people have asked for my opinion on this, but I still can't do any YouTube content due to my Visa restrictions in Germany, so I guess typing it up would be the next best thing...

I'll be honest, I have no overall opinion on the actual lawsuit itself. Yeah, I know a bit about trademarks and copyrights, but not enough to really lay this out. Do I think Demon Hunter has a good shot? No, but the courts will figure it out.

What I am MORE interested in is the way news outlets have worded the phrasing of the articles saying "the band's operating company" or "the band's management" is the one that filed a lawsuit, causing tons of fans of the band (and even non-fans that just don't like the show) to go all over the internet calling people names and saying "learn to read, it clearly says the band isn't suing!"

Let's be 100% perfectly clear here: The band (Demon Hunter) are absolutely the ones that chose to sue Netflix over K-Pop Demon Hunter.

1] Managers are employees of the band, and not the other way around. Yes, they are hired to look after the best interests of the bands that they represent, but they do not make major decisions (especially not one like a lawsuit) without the prior knowledge and approval of the band that they are working for.

2] The operating company of the band, Hyde Lane Inc., who is listed as the plaintiff in the lawsuit, IS THE BAND. It's the name of the holding company that they registered to run their band as a legal business. Tons of bands and artists in the music industry do this, and often times their legal company/operating/incorporated name is not the same as their band/artist name (For example, when I guitar teched for Dustin Lynch, I was legally an employee of Fox Fire Inc., because that was the name that he registered his business under, and not his own name).

3] The majority of this is all public record. Trademarks. Copyrights. Registries. You can do a quick google search to find out who owns trademarks, when they were registered, and what they were categorized in. You can also find out who owns and operates companies. In this specific case, Hyde Lane Inc. is owned and operated by the founding members of Demon Hunter, principally by their vocalist Ryan Clark.

So, when they say "Hyde Lane Inc is suing Netflix over the name K-Pop Demon Hunter", it literally means that the band members that actually own part of the band and are a part of the registered business got together and made the decision to file the lawsuit.

So, opinions on the actual lawsuit aside, the defense that fans are using of "oh, the band had nothing to do with this, it was their manager" is absolutely weak, and is really just an unintelligent response to try and defend the band.

All of that being said, Demon Hunter's first self titled album from 2002 absolutely shreds and I listened to it so much when I was in high school. 😂

Hey friends! Just wanted to take a minute to give you all a life update (for anyone that cares).

We're now at about 6 months of living in Germany, and honestly couldn't be happier. The first month was especially difficult for Ingrid to adjust because of the language barrier, but now she's absolutely loving it, making friends, and learning German faster than I could have ever imagined! AND, she starts Kindergarten next month which will probably help a ton.

But the majority of the last few months I've spent on the road. We finished off the North American tour, came back to Germany, and went straight into Summer Festival season in the EU, and have already knocked out Rock Im Park, Rock Am Ring, Heavy Weekend, Rock For People, and Download. Things on the road are going great, and I've gotten to meet a lot of you while I've been on the road.

And I've seen the countless messages from you guys about how you miss the content and when I'll be back. And honestly, I still don't have a definite timeline. We applied for our German residency last month and once we get that, it'll make things way easier to get YouTube/Twitch going again, and I'm excited to finally get back to that when I have time.

I appreciate the constant support from you guys, and thank you for going back and watching some of the old videos. Just wanted to check in because I haven't done so in a while, but you can always jump over to the Discord and chat there, which I'm active on when I have time.

Well, I FINALLY made it into a music video!

Recently, the guys in Statefall ran into an situation where their regular drummer couldn't make a video shoot, and they needed help. And when a friend asks for help, you help them.
