Adventures with Lycan my German Shepherd Dog
What a challenging Nosework Level 2 Trial that we recently attended (25 October 2026). Not only did we have a heatwave to contend with and no water stations except one, but also irresponsible handlers who let their dogs pi$$ in the Trial areas where the searches were - something they should immediately have been disqualified for!!! Yes, I am pretty upset by this, and yes I know that Lycan should be able to work despite distractions, but considering the late afternoon, the heatwave and the fact that the organizers did not have water stations at each element (Lesson learned) I cannot blame Lycan for struggling the way he did. But judge for yourselves on how he did. This video I show you our practice, even a Mock Trial where Zayla the Staffie took part in too and then the actual Trial and how not so well it went. Look out for it this coming Friday (6 November 2026).

Adventures with Lycan my German Shepherd Dog
Get the full experience and join Lycan and myself in public at the store. Once again I am looking for certain items that I need, plus a bit of browsing. Will my GSD behave himself? This time I was able to get most of the footage for you to see. Look out for this video tomorrow 25 September 2026. See you then.

Adventures with Lycan my German Shepherd Dog
Look out for our upcoming video on18 September 2026. It was not planned...... Lycan, my German Shepherd Dog ended up in a standoff with Milo, the Belgian Malinois in the park. This is the second incident with these two. They do not like each other. Milo does not come across as friendly at all (could be same sex aggression and as it stands the Malinois can be very dog selective and unfriendly with unfamiliar dogs). Lycan makes it known to Milo that he is not afraid of him and will answer any aggressive move Milo may make.

We are currently struggling with power failures that go on for days. This means I am unable to process videos. So if somewhere along the line no video pops up on a Friday then this would be the reason. I aim to put out a video every Friday but am at the mercy of those who supply us with electricity.

On the Winter Solstice of the Southern Hemisphere (South Africa), Lycan and I attended a challenging and very cold & wet Mantrailing lesson. I am so happy that I was able to get it onto video. Here you can really get to see a Mantrailing Dog work the scent, and wow, those backtracks.......
Coming up on 3 July 2026, so look out for it.

Adventures with Lycan my German Shepherd Dog
What is it like to take my Personal Protection Dog into a very busy shopping environment? There are trolleys, loud noises, music, children running around squealing, adults chatting, a person dressed up in costume, balloons in a bubble blasting away...... this was quite a stimulating day for Lycan. Watch how he handles all these strong distractions. Coming up this Friday 19 June 2026.

Adventures with Lycan my German Shepherd Dog
Coming up this Friday 12 June 2026. I try to get that perfect photo of Lycan holding a basket. What a process that was. I share with you a mostly un-edited video of how I went about getting the photo I was wanting.
Then next Friday, 19 June, Lycan gets to go shopping with me at a very busy store. I need him to be reliable in every aspect. Although I got a lot of footage I unfortunately did not get the part where some dumb@$$ rode his trolley right up Lycan's rear, bumping him. Thankfully my incredibly well trained GSD kept his composure. He is truly an amazing boy.
