TOID is where tech turns into adventure.
I take projectors, home-theater gear, and other ambitious tech — and put them into story-driven challenges to uncover what they can actually do outside the spec sheet.
From building a backyard drive-in theater in 4 days to testing whether viral Kickstarter projectors deserve the hype, every video blends problem-solving, suspense, and a little family chaos.
These aren’t traditional reviews.
They’re stories — packed with humor, tension, real stakes, and practical results — showing how technology performs when it’s pushed into real-life scenarios.
If you love tech, builds, experiments, or the thrill of trying big ideas on tight deadlines… welcome to TOID.

With 100-inch TVs getting cheaper, the screen matters more than ever in a projector setup. Laser speckle and ALR questions fill my comments, so I want to know what you're actually using. What are you projecting onto, and would you buy it again?

What's actually stopping you from building your first pair of speakers?
I hear a lot of reasons in the comments, and I want to know which one is the real wall for most of you. Vote, then tell me in the comments what would get you past it.

I hope you all had a great Father's Day! This year the kids and I decided to do a project. So we built a quick temporary racing simulator on wheels that we could wheel in front of the projector. And then had a great time racing and maybe teaching them how to drive a little 🤣. The height of the simulator ended up being the perfect height. You we're right in the middle of the screen exactly where you were supposed to be. This temporary rig might just end up becoming more permanent...

Anyone guess what we're doing tonight? It's only possible because of this video. I can't believe it's 70° in November. https://youtu.be/TKPUInfyMHE?si=zEcYW...
