19 सितंबर 1919 को पश्चिमी सिंहभूम के पासेया गाँव में जन्मे लाको बोदरा ने हो भाषा और संस्कृति के संरक्षण की दिशा में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया।

उन्होंने ‘वारंग क्षिति’ लिपि की खोज/विकास के माध्यम से हो भाषा को अपनी लिपि में लिखने-पढ़ने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण आधार दिया।

एक भाषा केवल शब्दों का संग्रह नहीं होती—वह किसी समुदाय की पहचान, इतिहास, स्मृतियों और संस्कृति को संजोए रखती है।

लाको बोदरा का प्रयास अपनी भाषा और पहचान को लिखित रूप में सहेजने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम था।

उनकी जयंती पर उन्हें सादर नमन।

46 साल बीत गए, लेकिन क्या सच में कुछ बदला है?

8 सितंबर 1980 को गुवा गोलीकांड सिर्फ एक दिन की घटना नहीं थी। यह उस लंबे संघर्ष की कहानी थी, जिसमें आदिवासी अपनी जमीन, जंगल, आजीविका और अधिकारों के लिए खड़े हुए थे।

उस समय भी सवाल जमीन का था। जंगल का था। खनन से बर्बाद होते खेतों और प्रदूषित होते पानी का था।

आज भी सवाल वही हैं।

आज भी आदिवासियों को विकास के नाम पर उनकी जमीनों से विस्थापित किया जा रहा है। उनके घर लिए जाते हैं, लेकिन लौटाए नहीं जाते। जंगल काटे जाते हैं, पहाड़ खोदे जाते हैं और खनन परियोजनाएं जमीन, पानी और हवा को प्रदूषित करती रहती हैं।

बदल गए हैं सिर्फ समय और परियोजनाओं के नाम।

जमीन आज भी ली जा रही है।
जंगल आज भी काटे जा रहे हैं।
नदियां आज भी प्रदूषित हो रही हैं।
और आदिवासी आज भी अपने ही घरों को बचाने के लिए संघर्ष कर रहे हैं।

गुवा गोलीकांड को याद करना केवल शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि देना नहीं है। यह उस इतिहास को याद करना है, जो आज भी अलग-अलग जगहों पर दोहराया जा रहा है।

जब तक विकास की कीमत आदिवासियों को अपनी जमीन, जंगल, घर और जीवन देकर चुकानी पड़ेगी, तब तक गुवा की कहानी सिर्फ इतिहास नहीं रहेगी।

For six days, the Sangtam Nagas of Nagaland come together to celebrate Mungmung, their most important festival, rooted in food production, blessings, prosperity and community.

From preparing food and sharing meat to worshipping the three hearthstones believed to represent Lijaba, cleaning village paths, visiting relatives and exchanging gifts, every day carries a special meaning.

When the six days come to an end, the restrictions are lifted, and the harvesting of new crops begins.

Mungmung is more than a harvest festival. It is a celebration of faith, food, community and continuity, keeping Sangtam traditions alive across generations.

गोम्हा पर्व एक पारंपरिक संथाल समुदाय का पर्व है, जिसे वर्षा ऋतु में मनाया जाता है। इस दिन, खेतों में काम करना अशुभ माना जाता है।

एक प्रचलित कथा है कि कई समय पहले, दो अनाथ बच्चे "कड़ो और कुयली" अपने मामा-मामी के यहाँ रहते थे। गोम्हा पर्व के दिन, जब घर में विविध पकवान बन रहे थे, तो बच्चों ने भी खाने की इच्छा जताई। मामी ने गुस्से में उन्हें खेत में काम करने के लिए भेज दिया। जब बच्चे वापस नहीं आए, मामा ने जानकारी ली और सुनकर चिंतित हो गए क्योंकि वह जानते थे कि आज के दिन खेत में काम करना अशुभ है।

खेत में पहुँचकर उन्होंने देखा कि बच्चों के शरीर का अधिकांश हिस्सा साँप की तरह बदल चुका था। बच्चों ने अपने मामा से कहा कि वे घर वापस नहीं जा सकते। उन्होंने अपने मामा से सिंदूर और सरसों के तेल की मांग की। मामा ने उनके सर पर सिंदूर और सरसों का लेप लगाया और उसके बाद वे दोनों बच्चे वहाँ से चले गए। उसी स्थान पर दो नदियाँ बहने लगीं, एक नदी का नाम कोडों और दूसरे का नाम कौयली रखा गया।

संथाल समुदाय गोम्हा पर्व के दिन खेत में काम नहीं करता क्योंकि इसे अशुभ माना जाता है। इस दिन वे गोँधा लेटो, गोँधा पत्तरा पीठा और हंडिया बनाते हैं। वर्षा ऋतु में गोँधा आसानी से मिलता है, इसलिए वे मांस की जगह गोँधा खाना पसंद करते हैं।
