Hello if you care about games and are European citizen and do not them to be killed just like that when grubby company just feel like that sign this initiative. If this initiative reaches a million it will get put in front of EU politicians and that could lead into legislation that will force devs to think about End of Life. It doesn't force them to keep servers up themselfs for online games but force them to allow players to run their own. A good example is what players did for World of Warcraft. This could also very much applicable for games like Honkai Star Rail or Genshin Impact. Right now there is nothing players could do when Hoyoverse decided to Sunset these games one day.
There are private servers right now but they are illegal. And people running them run risk of getting sued or at least their accounts banned and servers being shut down when they use a 3rd party hoster.
This initiative is a first step. But it could pave the road for not just only keeping the lights on but interesting mods and player generated content. Because here is the thing. Once companies are forced to provide tools and it is a common practice sure many will do the bare minimum and won't allow further modifications. But the better companies will give more freedom or even open source parts or all of the code. But we need that foot in the door for that to happen. So enough yapping if you read so far go read and sign that thing and share it with your friends.

Tinkering a little on my own calculator for HSR. I joinked the visuals from Asagi, it's a nice and compact interface. But yeah I am just tired of spreadsheets. Those things get ugly really quick. Plus they are a** to maintain. But this here is a lot more my jam. And once I can do some basic calcs I am gonna see if I can turn it into a proper simulator.

Do you believe power creep in Honkai Star Rail is an issue?

I got quite the mixed commentary on the topic of power creep on my recent video ranging from "get lost scrubs" and "skill issue" to people outright forfeighting and resigning to even attempt the higher floors in this game anymore. Especially in the MoC challange.

But to me this is not a one or the other thing. The games boss HPs are increasing. And that at a faster pace compared to Genshin. This is a raw number fact anybody can look up. It is all publicly available information. But it doesn't mean it automatically translates into doom as long as the devs balance with the right mechanics and releasing tools that help us to power up our characters and teams in the right places.
But more importantly players can also do something on their own to stay on top of things. Doing careful planning through linear investment strategies. This is the only thing players have control over in this game. Sure for F2Ps it's not easy especially if your luck has skill issue. And for others who don't exactly pass as an Emanator of the Master Card, but do spend some here and there, it is very doable as long as they chose wisely.

One way or the other I will put more attention on linear investment strategies in future guides. We need more awareness so less people wake up one day and feel steamrolled by the game.

This is frustration that is definitely avoidable. But it is not being helped when people meet that frustration with mockery and elistism. Like what do you guys think is the gain in that? Other than people dropping out of the game. And with that removing low to mid spenders. Which just increases the share of revenue coming from whales further. And they already do drive the majority of the income.

I just don't see the need for unnecessary PVP over that. Maybe it was a mistake by Hoyoverse not to include any fighting modes. Peeps seem to be bored and really need to release some steam. :D

Proof that new isn't always better. I do like most reworks of champions. Like Fiddlesticks looked ass in the past. Now he is the menace that he deserves to be. But than we got this one. I don't understand what the devs thought to take literal peak design that detailed, well colored, balanced and interesting and turn it into a boring dull mush. Fiora base skin was probably the best looking design in the entire game and probably maxed out what they could with the game engine. Why RITO?

Do you think Hoyoverse could pull of a series like Arcane?

I see a lot of people out there saying Arcane was cheap to make. Only 250 mill for the whole series. And 150 out of that was just advertising. So it is easy to jump to the conclusion that they were super cheap making a great series on only 100 million dollar. When so many studios fail to make great movies and series with far more money. But is it that simple?

This is the problem. A lot of publishers and greedy ass companies think the same shit. Thinking they can just throw money, get some guns for hire. And then go try to replicate and rip off success of genuine projects like Arcane.

I wonder how many people don't even have a clue that Fortiche didn't start just yesterday making Arcane. That they work more than 12 years on the same IP. Starting with just a bunch of music trailers. These guys never made a whole ass movie or series before. They had to teach themselfs to be THAT GUY. Riot had to give them the space and time, nuturing their development as sole employer for such a long time, so that they can develop that whole universe, with its unique time.

If you start to think how much money and time that costs for a company to pay people all that way and spend ressources to nuture these creatives. This is what most greedy ass studios try to skip. They rush for that quick buck and expect studios that are already spread thin on many projects to shat out a diamond in a fraction of the time. They try to "GET IN" on the hype that took more than 10 years to be born. Like scalpers trying to make that quick buck on the work that other people have done.

But people smell the bullshit and therefore these guys often end up just burning money. You just can't emulate passion. You never will.

Now that get us back at Hoyoverse. No matter what we think of them overall. They are actually in a position where they could pull this off. Everyone who watched their trailers over the years can notice how the quality improved over the years. They are certainly cooking something in the background. But is it enough to tell an amazing big story. That is what I am wondering. If we go by their lore we might. If we go by their dialogs than I am suddenly not so sure :D

I always wonder why Hoyoverse can't or don’t want to find a way to keep older units relevant. Especially in a game like Honkai Star Rail. Like who is still playing Blade? Who plays still Seele? You need to have a degree in Insanity University to invest into them nowadays.

They are quite a few ways they could keep those characters relevant without needing to slow down. We all know they want to sell. But what about the people who would rather prefer to improve their old characters over new ones? But they can't since the character at base is too bad that even Eidolons won't fix it.

This is where even Hoyoverse kinda leaves money on the table. Because just because you don't have the option to upgrade older characters, doesn't mean you will just put your money in new ones. This is a logical fallacy.

I know you can't just gift Eidolons. As it will piss off those who paid for those with hard cash and removes the reason to pull for future characters. But how about unlocking a second upgrade tree? A free one that you can unlock in an event. Maybe even consider giving that base character at E0 for free as there isn't high demand without that anyway. But now everyone can participate.

You play the event. Get the upgrades. And what they are at core is being corrective factors increasing multipliers and stats of the character at base. With the goal to pull the chara from let's say C to A tier. The Eidolon value will remain untouched. In fact they are worth more now since they have more to work with than before. Boom character is salvaged and people are happy.

I think character overhauls like these should be a thing. It doesn't need to be reworks like Riot does it in League. But at least corrective measures. Now the character is worth pulling again. Hoyoverse makes money here without having to design a new character from dust. And they look even generous while doing so.

I really don't see a reason not to do that. Even from their perspective. But who knows.
