Welcome to my channel! I share a variety of content including adventures, boat life, boat tours, car maintenance, car camping, interviews, personal finance, product reviews, and sustainable alternative living. The content shifts throughout the year depending on the season, weather, and current projects. My sailing boat and 2009 car are regular features—boat life offers a unique lifestyle, and my older car often needs repairs as I work toward saving for a van to join the van life.
My Goals:
I would like to grow this channel and set sail for seasonal cruising. The plan is to leave the boat in a marina abroad during the off-season, fly back, and embark on van life road trips. Long-term, I aim to leave the UK and establish a semi-off-grid homestead—something like a tiny home setup.
I'll film boat tour videos when I can, This does depend on the participation of others. I also help care for my parents. I'm working on sustainability projects to help them cut ongoing cost like solar system

Still no car! 🚐 Here are the three main things I need, plus a few other bits and bobs.
I’m still on the fence about whether to retire my 17-year-old car, which has done 172k miles and isn’t ULEZ-compliant, or bite the bullet and get it fixed. The quote is £1,000!
I’ve also been looking at vans, and I think I’ll make a post tomorrow showing the ones I’m considering to see if anyone here has any experience with them.
I’m holding off until the end of the month, as it’ll be payday, I’ll have a better idea of how much work I have lined up, and I should be on the electoral roll, which apparently can help boost your credit score.
My credit score is currently rated as “fair” because I have no debt, no IOUs and no overdraft. My only regular expenses are marina fees and my phone bill. I usually pay my car insurance and road tax upfront, so I don’t have many recurring payments.
I’ve actually been saving for a van for a while now. I’ve mentioned in a few videos that I’d love to buy one and convert it into a sort of hybrid setup: primarily a daily driver, but also a mobile office and occasional camper. 🚐💻🏕️

This week I've been working 60 hours at the motorhome and caravan show, plus a 40-minute walk and four trains as a daily commute (£12.10 btw) because my car failed its MOT. I'm still on the fence about whether to fix it or ditch it; fixing it is £1,000, and the engine is great, but with 172k miles and a 2009 build date, the structural issues are the problem. Plus, working in events means ULEZ on my 60mpg car is an issue. I've been looking at vans recently, as I've been saving up to buy something around the £10k mark, mainly to use as a daily driver, mobile office, and occasional camper where I can both cook and make coffee—speaking of which, someone just knocked over mine as I was making this post. That thing was £5! Guess it sums up the week. Send coffee and hope :-)

No video this week, as I'm working a solid 60 hours over 7 days, plus a 2-hour round trip. This week, I'm at the Motorhome and Caravan Show. My car is off the road now as I ran out of time for the MOT; it failed on structural issues. I'd love a camper, but so far the base price for the cheapest one was £55k, which is way out of my price range. There are some really great vehicles here, and I love the jacked-up 4x4 exhibition campers. Personally, I'm looking more for a daily driver that can seat four. I've been window shopping for vans to convert, but haven't really had much time to look. I'm mainly looking at people carriers where I can take the middle row out, as it would be used firstly as a daily driver, secondly as a mobile office or kitchen, and finally as a camper. The Ford Tourneo looks like a good option. The ones I've seen so far in my budget online have been ex-mobility vehicles. I like the all-round views and windows they have, as it makes a small space appear much bigger.

Well, here is a weird coincidence. With my event work, I usually get dates and locations, but not always the names of shows or exactly what they involve. I knew this week I was going to be putting magazines out at the front of the halls for a show, but I didn't know it was the motorhome and caravan show! My latest video was about my car failing the MOT and exploring options, one of which was buying a van to convert. There is no way I would be able to afford one of these new camper vans, but I can look for some inspiration and ideas. It is build day today; the stands and floor are not ready, but this is what behind-the-scenes looks like at shows—the unsung heroes who put these things together for people to enjoy.

🚨 NEW VIDEO! 🚗
This one’s a little more time-sensitive than usual, so I’ve published it early rather than sticking to my usual schedule.
My car has failed its MOT, and I’ve got basically 10 working days to decide whether to fix it or ditch it! 😬
It’s a big decision, so I thought I’d share it with you all. After all, a problem shared is a problem halved! ❤️
I’d really appreciate your thoughts and advice on this one! 🚐

My car failed its MOT, but mechanically it drives like new. The issues are mostly structural: I need new suspension, some minor repairs, and a snapped bolt that means the front subframe has to be removed. The repair cost is £800, or I could replace the front subframe for just over £1,000, which was recommended. If the car was ULEZ-compliant, I’d definitely fix it. But it’s 17 years old with 172k miles and showing its age underneath. What would you do?
1. Spend £1,000 and keep it going for now.
2. Buy another car for around £5,000, but it might come with its own problems.
3. Part-finance a ULEZ-compliant van with lower mileage.

link.amazon/B08shy4ol With diesel prices at over £2 a litre here in the UK one of the products I use on my 17 year old car with 167k miles. Iis Liqui Moly Pro-Line Diesel System Cleaner. The German made fuel additive is on Amazon for usually under £20 a can and I use around 4 cans a year. Very easy to use you just add it to your fuel tank. I usually wait until my tank is down to one line on the gauge then fill up just half way then drive around. You will see it in my how to style videos around my car playlist. My car drives like new and for references there's a few pictures of some thumbnails from servicing the car, my actual car along with a QR code for people who are scrolling on their TV or Computer.
Check the link for reviews and latest prices. If you do buy a can thank you I usually make up to 5% commission which of course isn't much but helps towards my next can of #LiquiMoly @liquimolyofficial

Can you guess where I am today? I've one last day at work then ill be back on the boat and back to making some YT videos. Videos coming up how I keep my 17 year old car running efficiently as the cost of diesel is on a wild ride! Changing one of the MPPT charge controllers on the boat and a new starter battery.

I like making YouTube videos for you; however, sometimes it is tricky. Here is one week I have lined up in mid-October: 60 hours onsite plus drive time! My event work takes me all over the UK, and I am typically on-site before, during, and after shows. Over the last three weeks, I have driven 1,600+ miles and have been in London multiple times, as well as Leeds, Birmingham, the NEC, Bangor, Leicester, Cardiff, and tomorrow, Oxford! On top of working at events, I have been helping out in a warehouse for a production company. They are super nice people, very friendly, and very helpful. Of course, I need to work, which helps pay for the boat, projects, and savings for a van. It is also car MOT week!
