As optimistic as you are, today, you will face challenges.
Something or someone will stand in your way.
Something will just come up!
If not today, tomorrow, certainly.
If you are looking for a job, you may get a rejection.
Many of them, at times.
If you are working on a project, you may not complete it as you desired.
Your old, revving computer will hang or even crash.
Your crack software will mess you up.
You will face challenges.
Above all, you have options;
One is to throw tantrums.
The other one is to cry.
Another is to blame someone.
But you know better than being a messy CRY BABY!
None of the above will advance your action.
They may make you feel better now, but it doesn't end there.
The nobler action is here.
ADVANCE!
For the mind adapts and converts any obstacle to its action into a means of achieving it.
By doing so, you fortify your mental fortitude.
The Obstacle on the path becomes the way.
Do not become a messy crybaby.

Happy New Week, Engineers
Monday sets the tone for the week. Own it, now. Don't rush into the week blind.
Sit down. Get clear. Quantify your main objectives before the week owns you.
Not your routine. Not your checklist.
Your ONE Major Focus Point for the Week.
What NEW move this week drives money, relationships, or personal evolution?
Pick one:
- Finish that overdue project
- Hit a specific revenue target
- Show up at that networking event
- Lock in a meeting with that client or partner
- Complete that course
- Crush 5 straight gym sessions
- Stack a specific amount in savings
Now go knock it out by Friday.
No excuses. No delays. Make it happen.
Do this for 5 weeks straight.
You will not recognize the momentum you've built or the results staring back at you.
You are an engineer.
Move with intention. Move with precision.
Cheers to a powerful week.
Such is the Way of The Ultimate Engineer.

There are far too many myths about Learning Civil Engineering Design.
We need to debunk them before they kill the dreams of many aspiring young design engineers.
Some are industry myths that have been passed down for years.
Others come from fear, self-doubt, or misinformation.
And if you believe them, they can kill your progress before you even start.
These are some common misconceptions holding engineers back
Myth: Young engineers can’t contribute to major design decisions.
Truth: With proper guidance and a willingness to learn, young engineers bring fresh ideas, innovative solutions, and new perspectives.
Myth: You must be naturally gifted to understand design.
Truth: Design is a learned skill.
-Mastery comes from practice, research, and experience—not talent alone.
Myth: There’s only one correct design solution.
Truth: Engineering is about trade-offs.
-The best solution depends on cost, safety, materials, and project constraints.
-There is never just one way to solve a problem.
Myth: Software can do all the work for you.
Truth: Software is just a tool.
-You need engineering judgment to interpret results, check for errors, and ensure practical, real-world application.
To overcome these misconceptions and improve your design skills, you need to;
🎯 Stop believing outdated myths.
🎯 Start building real skills
🎯 Practice regularly
🎯 Seek guidance from experts
🎯 Accept feedback
🎯 Push beyond self-limiting beliefs
🎯 Join a team of other engineers committed to developing their skills.
Which of these myths have you encountered?
Drop a comment below; it may help someone.

Ever noticed that most city roads stay flat, even on curves?
It’s not a mistake.
It’s intentional design.
On highways, engineers use superelevation — banking the road on curves — to:
• Reduce centrifugal force
• Improve vehicle stability
• Enhance comfort at high speeds
But urban roads operate differently.
Even though superelevation works, it’s often impractical in cities. Here’s why
🚧 Why Urban Roads Stay Flat
🎯 Wide pavement areas are difficult to tilt uniformly
🎯 Driveways and adjacent properties must match road grades
🎯 Drainage systems prefer predictable, flatter profiles
🎯 Low design speeds reduce the need for banking
🎯 Frequent intersections and access points interrupt transitions
Instead of banking, urban roads rely mainly on side friction between tires and pavement to resist turning forces.
Design is always contextual.
What works on a highway may not work in a city.
Have you encountered urban curves where superelevation caused drainage or access problems?

Why Vehicles Keep Climbing the Curb - This isn’t a driver problem—it’s a geometric design problem.
Residential intersections are often drawn with a “nice round corner” instead of a checked curb-return radius.
Without a proper swept-path/turning-radius analysis, longer wheelbase vehicles can get off track and ride over the kerb, cross the sidewalk, or clip street furniture.
This has an Impact on infrastructure and safety
❌ Asset damage - broken kerbs, cracked paving blocks, damaged drainage inlets, signs, and streetlights.
-This results in higher maintenance budgets.
❌ Safety risks - pedestrians forced to dodge vehicles while prams, wheelchairs, and cyclists are pushed into conflict zones.
❌ Operational issues - trucks are forced to swing wide into opposing lanes, causing delays and increasing crash risk.
❌ Premature rutting at corner entries/exits, ponding from deformed channels, and repeated reinstatement works.
This can be done well with careful consideration of the following;
🎯 Select the appropriate design vehicle for the street.
🎯 Run a swept-path analysis in design.
- Autodesk Vehicle Tracking / Auto TURN help
🎯 Design the curb-return properly - Use simple or compound radii that satisfy the path at low speed.
🎯 Where space is tight, add a mountable apron/truck apron.
This keeps pedestrians protected but allows for occasional truck traffic.
🎯 Set back conflicts: move poles, cabinets, and parking 6–10 m from corners; trim median noses; check crosswalk setback and sight triangles.
🎯 Validate on site: mark out paths during construction; post-build audits to confirm no kerb overruns.
Below is a simple demonstration of turning radii for a passenger car.
