I was working on something I cannot show yet, so most of the value is in one question from a BIM coordinator in Germany who works on big public projects. Thirteen years in construction, ten years of 3D models, and in the last three years the deliverable flipped: it used to be 80 percent PDF and 20 percent model, now it is 80 percent model plus information and much less PDF, with six people checking his models for wrong information. He asked if that is normal. It is. I lived it in Norway, on a project where parts were built from the IFC model with no drawings at all. Once a public client starts asking for information in IFC models, they do not go back to PDFs. It only moves in one direction, and with AI it moves faster, because AI needs open data to work well. That is also why every new AEC app you see on LinkedIn reads IFC.
