Lindsay Clancy vs. Post-Abortive Women: Why the Comparison Fails

Since the Lindsay Clancy case went to the jury, people have been saying that women who have abortions are no different from a mother who kills her children, and that both belong in prison. I had two abortions I was coerced into. I still say that argument is wrong, and the Church already explained why. In this episode I take the argument seriously instead of dismissing it, then show where it falls apart. Canon 1397 imposes automatic excommunication for procuring an abortion. Canon 1324 says a woman compelled by grave fear is not bound by that penalty. That is the Church's own law, and almost nobody quoting the first canon ever quotes the second. I also cover what the pro life movement has actually said in writing, including the 2022 open letter signed by more than seventy organizations and by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the peer reviewed research on abortion coercion, and the question nobody arguing for prosecution seems willing to answer: WHERE IS THE MAN? This one is personal. ProLife men who were complicit in participating in the murder of their own child are pointing fingers at post-abortive women and lumping them in the same category as Clancy.
