Andy Ruiz Jr's comeback has ended in defeat.
After nearly two years out of the ring, the former unified heavyweight champion was beaten on points by Damian Knyba — and for me, Ruiz looked a shadow of the fighter who shocked Anthony Joshua.
Slimmed down but dwarfed by the 6'7" Knyba, Ruiz struggled to get inside. The famous hand speed wasn't there and neither was the activity.
Knyba boxed a disciplined fight behind his enormous reach advantage, dropped Ruiz heavily in the seventh and deserved the decision.
Ruiz showed flashes of the old fighter when he hurt Knyba in the eighth, but at 36, after so much inactivity, you have to wonder:
Is it time for Andy Ruiz to call it a career?
And a very good win for Knyba — which also makes Agit Kabayel's demolition of him look even better.
