That west side sun can be brutal ☀️🌳🍊
Thin bark on young or newly planted trees can develop vertical cracks from sun damage and there’s no way to heal dead bark tissue once scalding occurs.
So today, I’m focusing my efforts entirely on preventative care.
Paint trunks with a 1:1 mixture of white/ light colored interior latex paint and water to reflect harsh solar radiation.
Remember that you will need to touch up once the tree grows and expands.
She’s thin and leggy right now. Should I stake her?
