To operate hundreds of stations, thousands of ambulances and medical vehicles, and equip tens of thousands of first responders, a huge amount of equipment is required. And much of this equipment exists thanks to donations from around the world. ❤️ Let's take advantage of this visit to learn some essential Hebrew vocabulary: 🩺 👉 צִיּוּד – equipment, gear 🚑 👉 צִיּוּד רְפוּאִי – medical equipment ⛑️ 👉 צִיּוּד לְצִוְתֵי הַצָּלָה – equipment for rescue teams 👕 👉 מַדִּים – uniform ⛑️ 👉 קַסְדָּה – helmet 🦺 👉 שְׁכַפּ״ץ – bulletproof vest 💥 👉 שְׁכַפּ״ץ נֶגֶד רְסִיסִים – splinter protection vest 🛡️ 👉 בְּטִיחוּת – security 🚑 👉 אַמְבּוּלַנְס מְמוּגָּן – armored/protected ambulance And even: ☕ 👉 קָפֶה – coffee! Because when you're working back-to-back shifts, especially at night, you also have to allow the paramedics to cope. 😅 One of the first rules learned during training is essential: 👉 בְּטִיחוּת קוֹדֶמֶת לַכֹּל Safety first. Before providing aid to someone, the teams themselves must be safe. In Israel, this sometimes means responding with a helmet, a protective vest, or even an armored ambulance so they can continue treating the wounded under fire or during attacks.
