HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY TO THE STAR OF OUR AUTISM FAMILY FILM STORY, MICHAEL WHITELL! In honour of the occasion, we have created this demo reel of Michael as the narrator, writing the letter to his Grandfather from our 2nd trailer. Our story is called “Dear Grandpa, It’s Michael” because it will depict a grown up Michael Whitell writing a letter to his grandpa in heaven, about the life he has lived with autism since his grandpa died, and the life he is looking forward to living! Michael Whitell is the real life star of DEAR GRANDPA, IT’S MICHAEL, an ongoing film story based on his life of growing up with autism that is currently being produced by his family’s longtime friend and Canadian filmmaker, Tyrone “Ty” Greenidge of My Three Angels Pictures Inc/M3A Pictures. Michael was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2 and doctors told his mother Karen that because of it Michael would not be able to live a normal or independent life, but he proved them wrong! With the unconditional love and support he received from his mother Karen, his grandmother Peggy, and especially his grandfather, Robert “Bob” Whitell (hence the name of our film story), Michael went on live a life full of opportunity and reaching his potential; from learning how to ride horses since his teens, getting his full G Driving license before 19, becoming a high school honour roll student and graduate, now attending Conestoga College in civil engineering, while learning helicopter flying lessons on the side, and starring in the latest chapter of our story back in 2024. Michael Whitell is living proof that autism does not have to stop people on the spectrum from living a life full of opportunity, if given the right support, and living a life full of opportunity. Both him and his family’ story is one of triumph and overcoming the odds, as it remains our goal to continue sharing it on screen and providing hope to all families in need to keep going as Michael and Karen did.
