A Medicine turned Sweetener ?
Monk fruit alias Luo Han Guo was a fruit cultivated by 13th century monks in southern china and northern Italy. Interesting part is , that unlike in today's times monk fruit was used as a medicine for sore throat , fever and inflammations. Monk fruit sweeteners have compounds called mongrosides that doesn't spike blood glucose levels or have side effects which makes them effective for weight loss without cutting down on sugar. #foodiversity#shortsvideo#shortsfeed#youtubeshorts#didyouknow#foodfacts#foodhistory#ancientmedicine#chineasemedicine#monks
