Saints Joachim and Anne, parents of the Virgin Mary and grandparents of Jesus. They do not appear in the Bible, but they do appear in tradition based on ancient testimonies. They first lived in Galilee, then settled in Jerusalem, where Our Lady was born and raised; they also died and were buried there. In fact, in the 4th century, a church was built on the site of the house of Saints Joachim and Anne, where their remains were venerated. Unfortunately, at the end of the 9th century, it was converted into a Muslim school. This church was known as Saint Mary, Saint Mary ubi nata est, Saint Mary in Probatica, Sagrada Probatica, and Saint Anne. What is important for the Church is the figure and the natural role these parents played, both in caring for their daughter, the Virgin Mary, and in their relationship with their grandson, Jesus.
