How to grow sweet potatoes in straw bales — no dirt, no digging, no garden bed needed:
1. Grab 2 straw bales and set 'em where you want 'em. I put mine against the fence.
2. Sprinkle 1/4 cup blood meal on each bale + water it in. Do this every day for 10 days.
3. By day 10, the inside of each bale is basically compost — that's your "soil."
4. Plant 3 sweet potato slips per bale right into the top.
5. Water as needed. Watch the vines take over.
6. 3 months later — cut the vines, open the bale, and pull out perfectly clean sweet potatoes.
