Rismon's presence was reportedly a response to Roy Suryo's challenge, who had previously called him a coward and asked him to attend the trial. "Roy Suryo's challenge is that he's a coward, so come. Right?" said Rismon. When met at the East Jakarta District Court, Rismon also highlighted the issue of restorative justice (RJ), which he believed was linked to the case ensnaring Roy Suryo. Rismon believed that Roy Suryo's side seemed to want to use the RJ they obtained in the Jokowi defamation case for Roy's benefit. "They seem to want to use my RJ for their own benefit, to save their client, Roy Suryo," said Rismon. He also mentioned that Roy Suryo's legal team had previously requested that investigators file the case files separately.
