I tested sanding sealer on basswood to see if it really makes painting smoother or more vibrant. I prepped two identical carvings, one with sanding sealer and one without, then painted both to compare results. The outcome wasn’t what I expected — the unsealed piece actually performed better in some areas!
Watch this quick test before you spend money on sanding sealer. It might save you time, effort, and cash in your carving projects.
