POV: You stopped confusing hypervigilance with discernment.

NEURO TALK EPISODE 3 DISCERNMENT OR HYPERVIGILANCE? Have you ever felt like you constantly needed to read the room, watch people’s behavior, anticipate what might happen next, or prepare yourself for something to go wrong? Sometimes what we call “discernment” may actually be a nervous system that has learned to stay on alert. Discernment brings awareness. Hypervigilance can keep you scanning for danger. Rhema Family, there is a difference. Spiritual discernment doesn’t require you to live in perpetual fear. Discernment can help us recognize what is happening and respond with wisdom. Hypervigilance can leave us constantly searching for threats, even when there is no immediate danger. This doesn’t mean every uneasy feeling should be ignored. It means we can slow down and ask 👇🏽 Is this discernment? Is this fear? Is this a past experience being activated? What are the actual facts? What does God’s Word say? Do I need to pause before I respond? “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 You don’t have to call anxiety discernment. You don’t have to call fear prophecy. You don’t have to stay on high alert to prove that you’re spiritually aware. Sometimes wisdom looks like pausing. Sometimes discernment looks like observing.
