In the wake of the devastating floods that hit Kerala in 2018, the handloom weavers of Chendamangalam were left without work and hope. That's when Lakshmi Menon and Gopinath Parayil came up with the idea that would not only provide employment to the weavers but also give them a reason to hope for a better future. They created Chekutty dolls from the handloom sarees that the weavers had crafted. The dolls are a beautiful representation of survival and hope, made from old cloth that has been given new life.
