India's retail (CPI) inflation for September 2026 was 5.54% (provisional), according to MoSPI's release on 12 October 2026. August 2026 was 4.83% (final). Food inflation (CFPI) was 7.74% in September.
CPI inflation compares prices with the same month last year, not with last month. Illustrative example (our calculation, not data): a basket of everyday goods that cost ₹10,000 in September 2025 cost about ₹10,554 in September 2026, on average; your own costs depend on what you buy. Figures are all-India, base 2024=100, as published by MoSPI. This video makes no forecast.
