Behind the scenes of Alita: Battle Angel, Alita was actually actress Rosa Salazar wearing a tight, grey motion-capture suit and a specialised helmet with two high-definition cameras pointed directly at her face
The Real BTS Look:
The Mo-Cap Gear: Instead of a cybernetic body, Salazar wore a skin-tight suit covered in tracking markers. Her face was also covered in tiny digital markers to capture every micro-expression, twitch, and wrinkle.
The Hair & Props: The short, dark hair seen in the movie was actually a wig attached directly to her recording helmet. When she hands over her cyborg heart, she was holding a simple, solid plastic prop.
The CGI Transformation: The VFX studio Weta Digital took Salazar’s exact performance and layered the hyper-realistic CGI skeleton and oversized anime eyes over her on-screen movements in post-production.
