The Sapporo International Art Festival (SIAF) is an initiative that introduces opportunities for discovery, learning, and participation by exhibiting artworks and new forms of expression from around the world in Sapporo. Centered around the triennial art festival, SIAF also collaborates continuously with schools, local communities, and businesses to cultivate a creative environment within the city.
It was launched in 2014, and the second edition was held in 2017. The third edition, SIAF2020, was cancelled, however upon cancellation, we launched the special program “SIAF2020 Plans and Ideas,” which ran during the original festival dates to share the detailed plans developed for SIAF2020 across various media. In 2024, SIAF2024 was held as the first winter edition. SIAF2027 follows the tradition of winter festivities and will be primarily held with diverse exhibitions and projects presented at 11 main venues.
