Dr. Mark Joseph O’Connell is a professor of fashion studies at Seneca Polytechnic in Toronto. His research focuses on visual culture, political economy, queer identity, and the history of fashion. He is the author of Canadian Fashion Economies and the forthcoming Perspectives on North American Dress History: 19th-Century Case Studies from Canada, Mexico, and the United States both with Bloomsbury, as well as Lilac Time at the Rodeo and Lilac Time at the Rodeo 2. His articles have appeared in Fashion Theory, Textile, Fashion, Style & Popular Culture, and Queer Studies in Media & Popular Culture.
