Kominka Fixed-Point Observation.

Welcome to Kominka Watch.

In July 2026, we bought a kominka in the Japanese countryside. A kominka is a traditional old Japanese house that preserves the architecture, atmosphere, and traces of everyday life from an earlier time.

After sitting unoccupied for many years, the house is now slowly being repaired and brought back to life as we prepare to make it our home.

We document everything along the way — clearing and maintaining the garden, cleaning, repairs, DIY projects, and caring for an old Japanese house. We also share everyday moments, including meals and drinks enjoyed between projects.

Some days bring dramatic changes, while others move us forward only a little.

Along with the changing seasons and rural landscapes of Japan, this channel quietly follows the gradual transformation of one old Japanese house as it becomes a home once again.
