Everyone whoās learned from me knows Iāll applaud anyone who falls, and Iāll encourage you to push to that edge where you are making mistakes.
That is the learning zone
You donāt change if youāre not challenged.
And challenging yourself often means not doing it perfectly.
And yeahāthis can be applied well beyond physical skills š
Oh and an extra applause š for my handstand club peeps who have been working on falling backwards into their sofas and chairs (and sometimes even to the floor) which is huge in the conquering fears department š¤
Iāve been guilty of teaching āpeak poseā flows where the peak pose is⦠at the end. š
But when youāre actually trying to learn a skill, it makes sense to do the technically demanding stuff while youāre fresh ā after warming up, but before the conditioning drills.
Thatās one thing Iāve LOOOOVED about Handstand Club.
Less āhereās a beautiful flow to experienceā and more āhereās the skill, letās figure out how to actually do it.ā
Because thatās my happy placeāteaching the nitty gritty parts of a skill.
And the best part of course: my students are actually learning to handstand. š¤øāāļø
Do you teach āpeak poseā flows and if so, what are your thoughts on this?
My neuro training starts 3 October! I teach you everything that will make you someone who teaches movement WITH an understanding of whatās happeningā¦
š§ in the brain š§ ā the centre of all your movements, sensations, thoughts, etc (I mean duh but ā¦people keep teaching movement, breathing, meditation etc as if the brain doesnāt exist š)
The notion of maps in the brain changed everything for me.
Every rep ā in most cases ā gives the brain information that populates its maps with data. More data = clearer map.
Sometimes things get in the way of that, and thatās where an applied neurology education comes in handy.
Either way, understanding how SPECIFIC each map can get turns you into a movement variety evangelistā itās so beneficial to move outside of perfect alignment and to move in novel ways.
My Applied Neurology teacher training starts in October!
If youāve been eyeing it, comment. Iāll give you a hook up
Learning Functional Neurology often means going over something that seems mundaneā
like āwe can move at different speedsā (š„±)ā
and being MIND BLOWN 𤯠by what is actually happening at a neurological level in this quotidian action,
and being able to apply that accordingly to help yourself, your students, your clients overcome problems and reach goals in ways youād NEVER have considered before.
Next Applied Neurology TT with me starts in Oct ā use code SEPTSALE for 25% off
Whether you learn #appliedneurology from me, handstands, or yoga, you better believe Iām gonna get you moving your thoracic spine in ways that make you feel like this:

Did I miss anything?
Share this with your coaches, instructors, and movement teachers because Iām tired of this being so misunderstood
Thanks! āŗļø

Basically: move the opposite side of the body to the one thatās balancing you and see if it improves your balance. (It likely will.)
Thatās the power of understanding some neurology.

A sprinkle of neuroscience behind the āI donāt want to get bulkyā excuse.
And you know whatās MUCH easier if youāre strong? Handstands š¤øš½
šNext Handstand Club starts 8 Sept and weāre not just working on balance and shapesāwe get strong too š
At-home weights and resistance bands workouts are on MWA too!
Or go get strong with someone elseās program or app. Just do yourself this favour and enjoy the empowering feeling of being STRONG.
