Welcome to Midwestern University, College of Veterinary Medicine Class of 2030! 🐾

Our incoming veterinary students are already turning their passion into purpose. Recently, the MWU Shelter Medicine Club hosted their first Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) clinic of the academic year in partnership with the Animal Defense League of Arizona (ADLA).

Through this collaborative initiative, student volunteers successfully spayed and neutered 47 cats—providing vital population control and healthcare to Arizona’s shelter animals while developing confidence in foundational surgical procedures.

At Midwestern University, rigorous academic preparation meets real-world community impact from day one. We are proud to support the Class of 2030 as they take their first steps toward becoming compassionate, highly skilled veterinary healthcare leaders.

Ever wonder how an artificial eye is actually made? 🥼🧪👁️

Step inside the ocular prosthetics lab at the Eye Institute with Dr. Deligio to see the incredible step-by-step process of crafting an ocular prosthetic. From molding the initial template shape to a pristine, polished finish, it's the perfect blend of science and specialized artistry.

Here is how it happens:
1️⃣ Create the bottom mold half using a template
2️⃣ Lubricate the mold for perfect separation
3️⃣ Pour the top half & tap out air bubbles
4️⃣ Open up the mold & extract the template shape
5️⃣ Mix liquid plastic to form a non-Newtonian fluid
6️⃣ Pack the liquid plastic directly into the mold
7️⃣ Compress the mold & trim the excess
8️⃣ Cure, trim, and grind the plastic edges
9️⃣ Polish it dry to add a seamless wax coating
🔟 Ready for trial fitting and custom painting!
