The Gilded Trace is a documentary history channel focused on the lives of ordinary people in Victorian Britain.

Each documentary is built from primary sources — parish records, government reports, personal diaries, parliamentary archives, and institutional case files — to reconstruct the specific, documented experiences of the people the standard histories move past too quickly. The servant who recorded her working day. The woman whose name is in the hospital case register. The labourer whose compensation assessment is in the vestry records.

This is British social history told from the evidence that survives. Every name is real. Every document is locatable. Every date is recorded.
