Welcome to Merrydowns our 65-acre country estate located a mile into the forest and surrounded by thousands of acres of a Maine Wildlife Sanctuary. In 2024, Mathew and I (my name is Jenny - hello) purchased the old farmhouse and 1769 barn and outbuildings bringing with us our menagerie of rescue animals with the dream of restoring it to its former glory and embracing the simple life.
Since then, we've done a lot of work and life is very full (brimming over most days). There's still the barn to restore, gardens to create, and a tiny off-grid cabin that we plan to turn into a fairytale hut. Although Mat is a lobsterman, he also is a carpenter, so we are in good hands. As far as I go, well I hope to add a little flare with gardening, interior decorating - I love all antiques - sewing and homesteading. We invite you to subscribe and join us on all these adventures and more while we do our best to live the "good life." #rurallife #homedecor #farming #simplelife #homestead #peaceful

Hi everyone x sorry to say there is no video today. We've been right out straight digging trenches to get electricity over to the horse barns and I figured that wasn't of much interest to anyone lol. That being said, we have some amazing projects and lovely things to share coming up for next friday's video so stay tuned for that. Missing all of you but will see you next week. Huggsss till then x Jenny
PS: In the meantime, what do you think about this little kitchen idea for our hut in the woods, Grimms' Hollow? If you don't know what I'm talking about be sure to scroll for videos on that. It's a good catch-up for next week hint-hint.

We have our BIGGEST video airing tomorrow - Friday at 4pm EST and we are so excited to share it with you - but we’re not giving it away just yet! Watch until the end to find out what finally happened (and it's not us planting trees lol). . . because it’s pretty epic! We’ve been dreaming about this moment for a long time, and now it’s finally here. Living a simple life in the peaceful countryside of Maine has its challenges, but moments like this make it all worth it.
Thanks for coming along with us as we continue our journey of restoring our old farmhouse, working the land, and embracing a slower, simpler life in Maine. ❤️ A huge thanks to everyone for subscribing, liking, hyping and commenting on our videos. It really does help boost our channel. We read every comment and so appreciate your loving support and encouragement - it means so much to Mathew and I. See you tomorrow x Jenny https://youtu.be/I5epU6cvt_M

Hi. I thought I would give you an update! Firstly, to all of our old subscribers: thank you so much for your patience as we upload missing videos to the channel (and to so many of you for the rewatch) we really appreciate it. Many of you have asked if we will be posting current videos and the answer is: yes, as soon as we upload all the old vids - we are getting there. Mathew and I have been super busy working on fencing so even if we did post, I promise, it would probably become pretty dull doing the same thing over and over again and we really have to get this project finished so the animals can enjoy the downs before snowfall. We are also undertaking a huge project at the moment that is going to pretty much use up any remaining energy we may have and that is to move all the horses' buildings closer to the farmhouse. As many of you know, winter's have been extremely rough having the horses off-grid. When we first moved here it was all forest and the only quick place to put those buildings was far away where there was a gravel pad the previous owner had put in. We are very excited to have the horses closer and no longer have to have all the extra work and stress. We will be posting all about that as soon as it comes together. New vids aren't that far off and we can't wait to show you all the changes and get back to regular videos. We have missed you all so much - Jenny x
